We were really lucky and got a great bargain of an isabella awning from e-bay for our old van, never used outside and had lain in a dealers stock room for a number of years.

Our new van needs an awning size of 1090 - 1100 cm and as you can imagine second hand models are few and far between. So we're having to look at new awnings, and not isabellas due to their cost (boo!)

Can anyone recommend a lower cost full size awning that will lst a few years, not leak in rain nor threaten to fall over in light winds? Also any recommendations of online used awning sellers wouldn't go amiss either.

Thanks in advance.

Hi if you look on the Dorema website they have a factory clearance sale advertised, I purchased a Dorema  Caramba +quick lock pads +easy griplock system direct from them & saved around £250 to £300 on local dealer prices, I'm lucky as I live close to the factory ( M62 junction 31 castleford) & could collect in person, maybe you could combine the collection with a trip away with caravan

Good luck

Regards Graham

An NR would be great but the cheapest I can see in our size is around £1,000 so not much cheaper than an Isabella. Dorema's are a little cheaper (we do have a Dorema porch awning that came with the van - not sure of type but the roof piece does come to a point in the middle at the front so may be a good size).

We are hoping to spend around £600 max mainly funded by selling our old awning and either the Dorema or an Isabella combi porch awning. Anyone any experience of the non-euro awnings eg outdoor revolution, kampa, starcamp, insignia, etc. Anyone any experience of these - how reliable are they?

We've recently swapped from an Isabella full awning and porch awning to a Kampa Jamboree and are very impressed with it.

With the full awning I didn't like losing the view from the side windows as it made it dark and I like looking out onto the site but our porch awning was too small, the Jamboree is 390cm long so we get the best of all worlds, all our stuff fits in with room to move around and we still have the brightness and maximum view from all windows, we can also use it on any future caravans regardless of awning rail size.

Regarding quality we were apprehensive as we don't like the flimsiness of the lightweight awnings that Kampa do but this is 'proper' awning material, the windows are larger and clearer than the Isabellas and it stood up to high wind and Lake District rain on its first outing without a problem, we've read about awnings leaking when they're new but this stayed bone dry inside, no condensation either.

The only 2 downsides were the fact they don't do carbon poles so we had aluminium but they were fine, easy to erect and light and I didn't like the curtains so have made some plain cream ones.

Esther1 I have just seen this topic regarding the kampa jamboree. I am looking at getting one but haven't found anyone that has a display model up. Can I ask do you still think it's a good awning,

I had a bradcot and they are excellent . Due to changing van we have bought a issabella magnum porch . It was a toss up between ths or the bradcot porch . Both excellent , both can be used with a sleeping annex. Also no problems if you change your van in the future. .the bradcot has excellent deals on as well. Check out the web site .

Needed an awning last year but did't have the money for a top named awning so went with a outdoor revolution New England .
It came with clip on storm straps, one piece roof and steel poles.
Have had it for over one full season and brought the annexe for this years trip to Devon , I would buy another one if it won't fit on the next van, for me it's good value for money others may disagree :) :)
