We have a folding camper at the moment, but were wondering about changing to a caravan. My OH isn't too keen on towing a caravan or storing it on the drive.
We were thinking we could store it at a caravan site and then just use the same site for each visit. Thats if sites do this
I can appreciate his concern but perhaps if he goes o na course that may help. Trust me once you have done it a few times it's not as daunting as folks think.
Many CC and C&CC sites do storage and have pitches. Many will even ull the van out and park it up for you. Check their handbooks. You could always leave it at Bridlington CC site and book pitches there. Mind you it seems to be full all year so you need to book well in advance.
I know that the C&CC site at Hanley Swan in the Malverns has storage.
Anyway, there's two I can think of off the top of my head

------------- If you're not on a fell your wasting your feet and for 2014 it's.......Feb Castleton Mar North Yors Moors; Apr Sutton on Sea; May Thirsk; Jun Clapham/Riverside (Lakes); July Wharfedale; August Crakehall; Sept Knaresborough; Oct Wirral Park/Clitheroe
If you can tow a folding camper you can tow a caravan.
The first time I towed, I towed my new caravan 90miles up the M1. The second time I towed it I towed from Northampton to Strathclyde. Don't worry about it just do it.
We just changed from FC to caravan. My OH went on C&CC towing course, said it was great especially for the reversing. I had a taster session at the NEC and am confident I could have a go on the road if I had to. Will be practising in the summer. You could also have a mover fitted if worried about manouvering.
Can also store the caravan at a storage site to keep it off the drive. Could pick one that has a few caravan sites close by so you do most of your driving with just the car and hook up for the final couple of miles ?
I pay just over £300 for 12 months storage and have 24 hour access and know that my caravan is totally safe. Don't get the ability to just pop to the van to put stuff in it but I havent got the luxury of a drive so best option for me.
We store ours at a C&CC site, we pay £200 for the summer then £180 for winter, it's the best thing we've ever done, they tow it onto/off the pitch and level it for us so we get the benefit of first pick of whichever one we want.
It's like a seasonal but without the hefty price tag.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
