Weve part exed our swift at a dealers, our current van has now gone up to the dealership, we took it up Saturday as they had to swap the MM over, we've not got our new van yet, probably this Saturday, we've only paid a deposit on the new one, but they now are advertising our old van for sale, and its on their forecourt can they do this? Considering apart from a small deposit on the new van, we've not paid in full yet, so isn't our old van still ours? And shouldn't be for sale yet?

I can understand them wanting to advertise it asap, but I don't think they would be allowed to sell it as it is probably still your van as you say.
It's obviously interesting to see how much they put it up for compared to the price you got for it!
I find it really annoying when dealers leave vans for sale on their website long after it has been sold. I lost count of how many times we phoned up about a van only to be told it was already sold.
They are making a nice profit, assuming they get what they are asking for it, but that's all part of a dealers I suppose. Just a bit miffed, supposing someone came along today liked it and left a deposit? They've sold our van! When we now this moment havnt got one,I'm going to ring them later and find out when we can pick up the new ( new to us) obviously they've swapped the MM over now, so if they've got ours up for sale now, we should now have our new one.

I don't blame you about being miffed, and I would definitely give them a call. Your new to you van should be a priority over getting your old one sold on.
just me i would be more worried if they were not selling my old van.many is the time i have read on here that the dealer has rung back and said due a to damp issue with your old van we will only give £1000 less than the price agreed.because of this it will require work before we can sell it.can understand though i do not like waiting.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I know I'm probably a bit impatient lol, on the day we did the deal, he did come round to our house as they are only five minutes away from us, and tested it, I was expecting him to say he found something and offer us less, he did actually say ' are you sure you want to sell this van it's bone dry ?' but he was as good as his word and gave us the top price for it out of his little white book.
I just feel a bit miffed, when he's got both vans there and we havnt got one yet

Your (their) old van is presumably Chris registered. Have you completed transfer paperwork yet?
Nothing right now, and no you're right we havnt signed over any transfer yet, we took our van up on Saturday as they needed to swap the MM over, I was under the impression, that then and only then we'd paid the remaining , we then officially signed ours over to them and took our (new) van home , they were then free to sell our ( old ) van as it become their property.
The more I think about this the more I'm not happy, I phoned them up but he wasn't there, so left a message.Just a bit cross when looking on their website, both of my vans are on there!!!

Don't get too miffed, once you've got the new one you'll forget any beef you've got with the dealer. You can always send David an email and tell him you are coming tomorrow, or whenever to pick up at a specific time, have it ready or the deal is off. I don't really think putting yours up for sale so soon is bad practice cos he really wants to shift asap and it doesn't really matter if the deal is not finalised, imho once you've shaken hands on the deal you have both committed. I bought a van there some years ago and found him to be quite fair and reasonable. Enjoy the new one.........Mick
Oh I've no worries about David, this is the second van we've bought of him, he's always been fair with us, just a bit impatient I suppose, he can't tell us when ours will be ready, he said Saturday he'd ring today, but nothing as yet, I've left a message with him, hopefully it'll be ready tomorrow.

Love it, saw my old one on their forecourt , went over and patted her goodbye, she looked ok, like she was mulling things over lol, then when we pulled away in the new ( to us) one, I gave her a wave lol.
