We have a 2011 Bailey Olympus 525.  Tried out new porch awning for first time - SunnCamp Ultima 260 - but height appears to fall short by 4" as awning skirts do not touch the ground!  Anyone else have this problem with a Bailey?

Hi,

if you look at the Bailey Website for the dimensions you’ll see the Olympus listed as being 2.63m high. http://www.baileyolympus.co.uk/

A quick search online for the Ultima 260 and I found it listed as:-

·  To fit caravan heights 235cm – 250cm

Looks like you're out of luck. Did the people selling you the awning say it was suitable? In which case you might have some redress...

We have measured the caravan and it is 2.43m from awning rail  to ground.   I know the brochure says higher.   Dealer sold us caravan and then awning, so am hoping to force them to take it back!   They have admitted there is a problem with the 'skirt' that goes on the bottom rail of the caravan and offered us a longer skirt, but haven't got back to me re the actual unsuitability of the awning.

I have photographs that I intend to use - just wanted to make sure we haven't missed anything before we go into 'battle'.

We have an Olympus and a newish Sunncamp Ultima 390 and an old Sunncamp Ultima 260 and we don't have this problem with either of the awnings. In fact they fit better than they did on our old Ranger.

Good result today - dealer has taken awning back & is looking at suitable replacement or giving us full refund.

I will be scouring internet for options - if anyone has any recommendations (or what not to buy), all ideas very welcome.

Hi.  Did you have any luck finding a porch awning to fit?  We've just bought an Olympus and bought the sunncamp ultima only to have the same problem as you with it flapping around off the floor.  Supplier wanted to charge 10% of the cost of the awning as we'd threaded it, but after a heated exchange refunded the lot.  We dont know where to go from here now - what porch awning did you get in the end?

Hi Clair

We got full refund from dealer and decided to do without an awning due to our experience.   Lesson learned I reckon!

I would guess that the overall height stated in the spec is to the highest point on the van. ie the top of the roof lights or the top of the aerial. You need to know this height for getting under barriers, low bridges etc
