When I went to the Bala Camping & Caravanning Club site I went straight up the A5 and continued through the welsh border through Llangollen, Corwen and then on to Bala. There are a few roundabouts along the way but not really any difficult roads as such. So if you were coming from Teversal you could go M1, A42/M42 to junction 10 (Tamworth) and that is the A5 that will take you straight through to north Wales.

yes its not a bad route ,your only problem stretch is the extremely steep hill as you descend towards ruthin ,once past that its a doddle .
mind you saying that the views as you come down the hill are nothing but spectacular ,and you can always pop in for a coffee en-route .

p.s don't forget the wellys the sheep are very friendly up here

I'd have a look at that bit on streetview - there are a couple of hairpins. Trucks do it, but at a crawl.
The alternative is via LLandegla and Corwen.

Come down that hill too fast and you'll pop into that little timber clad bungalow that was built a couple of years ago!!

Just proceed with care, you should be OK.
