hello just wondering what everyone uses to heat their awning as our van doesnt have blow heaters was considering a small calorgas heater any sugestions welcome
depending if your on a ehu site a extension cable and either fan heater or skirting heater ,the latter being better as it does'nt take much power drain .just make sure your awning does not flood if using mains electric .
after the deaths from those barbecues earlier this year i would be careful of any flame type heating
We use a small blow heater in summer which is kept off the ground with plastic box, and in winter a oil filled radiator which is left on all time. I would not have a gas heater in the awning.
we spend most ov the time at night in the awning with the dogs hence the heating question her in doors is always cold even in a heat wave NOT all site allow electric heaters
???? the one we visit regular dont
We use a 2kw fan heater, works a treat and is certainly more effective than the warm air duct into the awning, you can get em from argos and they're pretty cheap.

not come across that one before, the only electric heating restriction I have come across is restricting the hook up power, 6A is the minimum I have used, and managed to have a 500W fan heater in the awning, and the van heater on 500W to take the chill off, and that was during the snow in Feb.
We find that the halogen one does the trick nicely but if it is bitterly cold and we need some instant heat we will pop on the fan heater for a few minutes - just means the kettle has to wait a few minutes - but booze can make you warm too mmm lol

I use a fan heater in the awning if it is just a little cooler than I am prepared to sit in. If it is a lot cooler then I would not even try it I would sit in the van. In the winter I would never think of using it, and personally I think that plugging a heater in to heat the awning and then leaving it on day and night as has been suggested is a bit over the top, it means that the site owners eventually have to raise the price for everyone else just to be able to meet their electric bills.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
A few layers of clothes! A lovely warm fleece, long trousers and covered feet are normally all that are required! I think heating an awning can be a wasteful and often dangerous exercise.

It depends on the situation,
if you use the awning day and into late evenings as we do, you have the heating on, plus this keeps the van warm without having any heating in the van,we are on a seasonal pitch, so the awning is carpeted for insulation as well as comfort,we never boil a kettle, cook in the van everything is done in our awning, I never burn gas, plus i think we pay more than any other site for our ehu.You cant burn more electric that the supply allows you to, mine is 16amp, it will just trip out.so the site takes this into consideration,The ehu is there to be used, we either burn what we can before we trip it out or you dont,we cant burn more than what we pay for,so the next thing will be, is this illegal to make a profit? just to add, I do use my supply reasonably, more so when the site is full and more demand.

No wonder sites are charging more for electric hook ups. The sooner that sites find a cost effective way of charging for electricity used the better and then I
wont be subsidising those that waste it heating awnings.

its what you call.. the supplier ripping you off,It`s not the caravan sites fault for putting the ehu charges up.
