Hi All
Currently my husband and I have an end dinette Eldis whirlwind and use the front bed with the sofa bits as the mattress as with most van's like this.
In Oct 2010 I was in a car accident (not my fault I got hit up the back at 60mph) which has left me with tissue damage in my back. When we last went away sleeping on the made up bed did my back no good at all. We have a property which we went out (as we were unable to sell last year when wanted to move) and we are currently sorting a new mortgage deal. Due to this we came up with the idea of if we can increase the mortgage and use the extra money to buy a fixed bed caravan. This has all been run past our Finance Advisor and looking at property prices we couldn’t see any major issues.
The mortgage offer has come through but on the valuation that there company carried out (that I had to pay £430 for!) they not only valued it at 10k less than last year, they have valued it at 20k less than an identical property that is up for sale on the next road. Looking on Right move the other day it is valued at less than any other property on the same estate that is up for sale, including ones that are 2 bed like mine but smaller and others that need work doing to it. Our FA is working on getting this changed but I am prepping for looking at worst case scenario of not getting the money for a van.
Does anyone know if we took the measurements we would be able to get a mattress made for the space at the front of the van? We leave the bed up so the loss of space isn’t important, but I don’t need to be in pain etc every time we go away and we don’t want to give up caravanning.
Em x
