With the first trip in the new 'van round the corner, we learnt today that we are on a serviced pitch, question is how do we hook up the water?? we have used it for 1 night and used the aquaroll, but is the main's water pressure ok to just hook a hosepipe upto??
Advice please???
thanks Nicki

Just connect a hose to it and use the Aquaroll as normal. (Make sure yours IS an Aquaroll though - we have a Waterhog and it has a different size cap fitting)
Great timing for this thread as I was about to ask the same, we hae booked a serviced pitch for our holiday next year.
So if I buy the thing for the aqua roll in the above link is that it sorted, do I need anything else. Is there any drawback to it, can it be too high pressure.
Regarding the waste our usual pipe is only a metre or so away from the drain so can I just buy a longer length of the pipe (it came with our van and looks bendy stretchy and grey)

The pressure will be fine if you feed it through your aquaroll. Just extend your waste pipe into the drain. Buy the proper hosepipe for drinking water. If you use ordinary hose then it will smell and taste awfull!
To use the valve fitting that is connected to the Aquaroll you actually need the Aquaroll with a side cap access as well as the top. The idea is to to use the top cap for the water pump (as you have it set up now) but if you use the mains connection then you have to use the side access hole instead and leave the Aquaroll on it's side whilst in use. Some water barrels don't have a side access such as the Pyramid 'Water Porter' and the older Aquaroll versions don't either.
My friend made one of these up himself for the 40 litre Aquaroll. Got the mini ball valve from B&Q drilled the cap and fitted it. Much cheaper than buying it made up.

If using a hose connection for water it is also worth taking some tap adapters as in most cases all you will have is the tap with threaded spout to connect to.
Also check the actual description of pitch facilities as the term "service pitch" is not standard. At worst it may mean only an EHU. At best you could have EHU, water tap, grey and black waste plus TV point. Normally "full service" means water, grey waste and EHU with TV in some cases and "part service" EHU and water but no drain point.
There is no such thing as a standard service pitch layout and so, if you use these things regularly you will need to carry all sorts of different lengths of drain hose etc to accommodate the sitings of drains, taps, EHU Points etc.
We bought the mains water set up last year and now wished I hadn't bothered. I feel more like a plumber than a camper when we arrive on a site now.
Checking water and waste levels and emptying and fillings tanks is just all part of the daily routine on a campsite and the more daily chores you avoid with more sophisticated equipment the less you meet up with your fellow campers as they go about theirs.
<<< £10 in Wickes, just make a hole in the cap and fit, standard screw on tap fitting, for click on hose.>>>
This is true, but do remember that you will also need to buy the cap that you are cutting and inserting this into. As, unless you still have the standard cap you will not be able to use your aquaroll as a water carrier when you are not on a seviced pitch.

Excellent point. We have had a mains hook up kit since 2006. I make a point of not using it at all now unless we go away in the winter months.
I missed the chats with others at the tap or waste drain, as well as the benefit from increased physical activity.
In the winter, however, there is little pleasure to be gained from trapsing across a windswept site in horizontal rain, when nobody sticks around long enough for a chat anyway.
hmmm good info as the only pitch we could find that suited our criteria for our next break in a couple of weeks is a super euro pitch at haven ,might go down the b&q path as i like having a play with things .and got to keep it real price wise on a pension
