Hi All im after a bit of advice, our van is in warranty until 1/9/2012, whilst on holiday I damp tested it and found two areas reading low damp readings, so I have taken it back to the dealer to fix the suspected areas as we are trying to sell it.

The areas were: Door retainer and rear handles/lights leaking

They tell me they have replaced door retainer and resealed lights and handles and dried out.

However the damp readings are still the same, so they are telling me currently telling me its because they couldnt dry it out 100%.

On saturday morning somebody come to look around the van, I was honest with them and said it had been in and been resealed, and the man looked at the back of the van and he couldnt see where they had resealed the lights or handles and also the board in question had condensation on to touch.

Would I be able to see where they resealed it?

Any advice would be given as Im meeting the service manager again this afternoon as im still not happy with it being wet to the touch.

The lights when new have a seal of their own, unless theyve replaced it i think theres no way to tell.Take off the lights to see if they have used a sealer if its bothering you.The handles can only be sealed if they can gain access to the rear of them ie,taking of a board i think.

Anything screwed into bodywork such as lights & grab handles will allow water in unless properly sealed. If it was an older caravan I would suggest you loosen off handles/lights & squirt in sealant behind them & then retighten. If the repairer has done this then it should be ok, it only needs sealant where the screws go through the body.

as I thought jeff!

The funny thing is when we took it in and said where the damp meter was reading as moisture and said its probably lights or handle, he shook his head and said ummm not sure how we could do that without taking it all off.

To be honest with you I dont think they have touched the back and are just trying to fob us off by saying it will take a while to dry out, by which point our warranty is out!
