Hi Strax

Sounds the simplest solution but I have tried to avoid putting strong solutions of bleach down the sinks in the van as was told in the past that continual use of strong solutions of bleach can make the waste pipes go brittle.

Have you found any problem with the pipes?

Never had any problems with embrittlement, and we would know because our superlative Bailey design freezes up readily, also the dining table knocks the sink waste apart if you don't take great care packing up.

I can't see the difference between  soaking in Milton for 15mins and pouring bleach through, Milton is pretty horrible stuff, and left to soak it has plenty of time to penetrate.

tbh I also use a teaspoon of Elsan blue in the wastemaster every so often AND clean the bathroom with domestic bleach spray. I know what the instructions say, but nothing cleans the same...and I can't see the point in living with dirty corners.

Came up with a simple idea this last weekend and worked a treat (I had the bits I needed in the front locker all along) I just took the two short lengths About 18" long of the waste pipe pushed each piece onto a waste waste outlet and took the straight waste pipe joiner and joined the two ends together forming a loop back on itself.  I then poured Puriclean solution down both sinks until just seeing the water come to the shower drain in the shower, knowing then that all pipework was being sterilised.

Now why didn't I ever think of that? It's so simple yet so clever and you get to clean both the sinks and shower waste at the same time. Absolutely perfect idea and a solution to cleaning the waste pipes after all this time. The best part though is you asked the question and found the answer as well.

Thanks Tango, often a good solution is the simplest. Problem is I have been taping waste pipes up for the last 8 years, then after posting the question came up with a perfect solution LOL....
