We have an awning that is only a few inch too small for our new van, and have looked at Isabella website that says you can buy an adapter kit and make the full awning as a porch.

Has anyone tried this and does it work?  According to the webite you snip the awning bead where you would like it to fit, but we are unsure what happens to the roof?

Before we invest in alterations to the awning we would like to hear from anyone who has done this or has any advice.

Cheers

Mottys

The kit from Isabella is £85 the expensive bit is the pole ( total rip off price). It is not a choice of tilting where you want it, if you want that choice you have to buy an awning with an A measurement to fit that point. Your awning is a few inches short so what would happen is that it would come own at a point that is a few inches before it does at the moment.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

You could always have it altered try lancashire sports repair in blacburn or is that burnley. Would cost less than the adapter.

We have an Bailey Senator, and didnt want a full awning, (to big for only 2 of us)so we measured the van to were we wanted the awning to go, we bought a 14' awning and turned it into a large porch awning, by cutting the beading, the roof becomes the side, we already had an isabella 680 combi awning with the kit, and use it now with both awnings.

Greetings Mottys,
We bought our first 'van this time around,(after the kids had flown the nest) in 2002. It came with a Ventura Awning.

Since then we have had several vans but kept the same awning, first of all increasing it just like you and then adjusting it as every new 'van came along.
Type into Google, Leads Road, Hull, Awning. That Company will alter your awning (if its, say less than a foot out) for about £85. Carriage is on top but the last time I did it, it cost £30 all together. If you supply the details of how long you want the awning to be "A to B around the awning rail ground to ground, They will do the rest.

Hi

Dont cut the bead fully. With care it is possible to put a small cut in the outer sheath and then cut through the inner core. You then pull the inner core from the end to create the gap in the beading.

Sandy
