Can anyone tell me if Bailey insist yearly servicing has to be carried out at one of their dealers or do they have a list of approved mobile service engineers? Have found a 2008 van with Bailey main dealer service for first two years followedby two years of mobile engineer, all on time.

You don't have to have the service done at their dealers, it can be done by a mobile engineer or any workshop as long as the engineer/workshop are caravan council approved and can prove this. I had confirmation of this a few years ago by Kelly at Bailey.
When had to have major warranty work done (by the Bailey dealer we bought the van from) we had no problem, all but one of our services have been done by a mobile engineer.
So to your question as long as the book has been stamped on time and they are cc approved then thats fine.
With our last van we rang our mobile man & he told us he couldn't service it because it was under warranty. We'd have preferred him to do it because we know he's good at his job & you know he's done everything.
When we bought our current van we've stuck with main dealer servicing to make sure the warranty is kept in place.
What size van are you looking for? I've recently advertised our Provence series 7 in free ads. It was delivered new to us in May 2009.
Hi savanne, so what van are you looking at? I thought you had one after the ranger? As above we get our provence serviced by a mobile ncc chap and he even does minor bailey warranty work. Prices are similar to our local dealer but he comes to us so saves the hassle in towing it there plus his work is excellent! No need to use the dealer as long as the engineer is bailey approved.

Our man couldn't have been Bailey approved Dazzer, I thought it was good of him to advise us to stick with the dealer though. Many people would simply have taken our money & let us find out if we had a warranty problem.
He serviced our Compass for years & always did a thorough job so we'd have him any time over a dealer service but we have to keep the warranty in place.
As said the warranty is still valid when serviced by ANY NCC aproved engineer/workshop.
Usually any problem found under warranty will have to be done where you bought it, although our mobile engineer says he can do 'some' warranty work with the o.k. from the maufacturer and he is Alko approved so can therefore do warranty work which relates to that.
I would ring Bailey customer services and double check before you do anything? They are quite helpful and I would also get a named contact then you have comeback. Im sure your probably ok if its not an alutech model but I think if its the alutech you have to have them serviced at dealers and the prices are fixed for year 1 -3.
This is always a grey area the same wth cars?? Just make sure its done within the timescale of the build date which I think is 6wks with most companies?
Also in response to the above post by Janx, this is not the case, warranty work can be undertaken by any dealers, we have bought 3 new vans and never taken any of them back to where we bought them! we bought them at the shows and the dealers were too far away, weve never been refused any warranty work and I have just booked our latest van in for some minor warranty jobs and its not from where we bought it!
thanks cherylmark, we are in the very fortunate position that OH works at the Bailey factory on a fairly regular basis as he maintains their telephone system. Questions have been asked today and the answers and reassurance we wanted given.
