Hi. We've been campers for many years and decided to upgrade from a trailer tent to a caravan. Advertised our TT for px and surprisingly got an email from a lady who had the Europa. Not moved for 2 years and was very dirty. But it was FREE. To cut a very long story short. Brought the van home and she's not too bad. Someone has butchered the interior. Seats etc have been massacred and need to be rebuilt. Wiring is a complete shambles. Cushions are very worn.
But it's a start for us. Does anyone know where I could get wiring diagrams etc for it. I'm no stranger to electrics and could do it anyway but with all the extras thrown in I'm
Dubious that the rcd could actually handle it. The water heater has been disconnected for some reason also. Any info that anyone could give me will be greatfully received.

this brings back memories we had the exact van 20 years ago.from memory the van wasnt wired for 240 from the factory, and from memory there was only 1 12v socket 2 strip lights and a pendant light in the rear wrap around seating area,i put my own ring main and consumer unit in,with a rebuild in a van its easier, please post some pics

Well you wouldn't recognise this one. It's been butchered. Trying to get it habitable at the moment. Almost all the front is rotten. 3 inch screws straight through the outer skin. Bits of cable taped together. Think you get the picture.
Glad you mentioned the wrap around at the rear. Because this has two bench seats just like the front. Lookin at the layout I thought it had been altered.
It's our first van. And I certainly can pick a challenge lol.

If you are reasonably competent with 12V electrics I would not even bother with a wiring diagram, simply rewire from scratch putting in lights and 12V sockets where you want them. You should be able to pick up a second hand Zig unit or similar for next to nothing off fleabay. For the battery you could consider something like a TP2 box which has a charger built in and would solve the problem of battery placement as I am fairly sure the old Europa's used TP2's as standard. If you picked up one of the bigger Zig units they have a charger built in but you would still need to have a battery box or locker. For the mains I would keep it simple with maybe just a couple of sockets off a caravan consumer unit (RCD and MCB across both live and neutral). Do not use twin and earth cable for mains in caravan. While you are at it it might be worth trying to find a fridge that runs off mains as well as 12V and gas if you don't already have one. If making many alterations watch the weight as you will still be limited to the plated weight of the caravan. Brakes and running gear will need complete overhaul. If I remember correctly the caravan will have been built on CI own design chassis with Knott brakes etc.

Thanks for that. The 12 and 240 v are actually working. There's no charging unit at all. Just a small car battery and Halfords charger. Not an ideal system. Looks like I've got a lot of work ahead. Going to start reframing tonight. Hopefully the awning rail will be resealed at the weekend
