Tried to put the fride on last night on the battery. Nothing! Battery is fully charged. It works on the electrics. Any ideas? Is there a hidden switch for example?
Another thing which confuses is that it will only maintain the temp it starts out with, 12v will not cool down food unless you are driving over 200 miles! So cool all your food down first, and use a couple of ice packs/connect to EHU overnight to get the fridge down to a cool temp before you start off. I also take a few things frozen, like milk and meat I won't be using for a few days, this acts as an extra ice pack and will slowly defrost ready for when you want to use them, whilst keeping the fridge cool at the same time.
I have no 12v connection to the fridge, so I just pretend it's a freezer box and use like that until I get where I'm going.
Thanks folk. We were confusing it with the campervan fridge which could have run for about 5 days on the battery. I'm assuming now that it would have been the leisure battery that charged it?
We put the van on mains overnight to cool the fridge before setting off, it then works fine. Some people put ice packs in as well, useful if on an overnight ferry!

If it did run from the battery it would flatten it in a matter of hours.
Just another post to confirm that the comments above by 'DaveCoaches' is absolutely right. There are 2 forms of fridge power when on site and that is either gas or 240 volt mains but you can't operate the fridge on both sources at the same time. 12 volt power to the fridge is only for when you are towing just to keep the fridge cold so if possible you are best to cool it over night first if possible.
I put a posting on here somewhere - your frozen stuff`ll be ok fro several hours if te fridge has been set up a few hours before you go. Bung yer dtuff in it - and away you go! You won`t have to stock it when you`re there . . . (wouldn`t risk eggs except they be in the supermarket cartons!)
