Have just returned from a "shake down" trip with the new (to us) Hymer Nova and have been very taken with the build quality. I had many frustrating moments with the dual fill water equip (inside tank and external back-up)before I worked out how it functioned. javascript:AddSmileyIcon('') I was wondering if anyone has this same van and has any advice or problems to relate.
Dont risk trying to locally switch the external pump on whilst the pump hose is connected via the bayonet. That switch is only to power the pump when you are using it to transfer water from your container [AquaRoll etc] into the tank filler tube.
On hand over they stressed the risk of blowing up the water system if it was switched whilst connected via the bayonet. So we have never tried to see if we could!
Yes, that is what I tried to do. It just seemed the logical way to fill the inboard tank with the bayonet. It would not work that way. It did not do any damage but it took me a while to realize that the aqua roll was activated as a reserve via the inboard switch near the floor by the wardrobe. It would have helped if the 'book of destructions' had mentioned it. As you say, a great van, I can't get over the quality compared to the others I have owned.
Regards
I really like the internal tank, but the only way to use it is to go to the water point, fill the Aquaroll return to van, stick the bayonet into the filler pipe, stick the pump in the Aquaroll, hang onto the bayonet end unless you want a soaking, then stand there like a wally until either the Aquaroll is empty or the tank overflows, if it is empty repeat the process. Then leave everything alone until you need o fill the tank again. I find that when we arrive I collect two Aquarolls full to fill the tank and the hot water tank then at tea time every day I fill the Aquaroll and then the tank, it only ever takes one a day apart from the first day. Great van very user friendly and very oil idly constructed, I bought mine new 10 years ago and expect to still have it 0 years from now

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
Like Bill, we fill our internal tank via the aquaroll using the external pump in the aquaroll with the tube into the tank. 2 rolls full when we first set up and then usually just one a day is sufficient. We have a gauge where you can check how much water is in it at any given time. We have to make sure the internal switch is in the right position for the pump to operate inside the van once the tank is full. (Only annoying thing about ours is that this switch is under the rear seating unit and it's very easy to knock it with your foot).
We were also impressed by the build quality when we bought the Hymer. When we had it serviced, the bloke who did it was too - not a sign of damp anywhere and built to last. If I ever have to buy another van, I don't think I would want anything else other than a Hymer...spoils you really.
