We used our oven last night without a problem however today the gas in the oven  ignited but would only come on low  and would not increase even with the oven knob turned on high. We could not get the oven hot. The hob was also affected. We checked the gas bottle on the cadac and it was fine. Please could you tell us what could be the problem and how do we rectify it? Thank you

Regulator problem?

if the bottle is full then it can possibly be the regulator,they make an add on filter now but not cheap at £60 see

Are you using butane or is it propane? If the temperature was anything like it was here it was almost down to freezing and butane only gases off at a low rate at such temperatures. If you are on propane then I would certainly suspect a regulator or maybe gunged up pipes feeding the cooker.

Thanks for the replies so far. We use propane gas and it is a Thretford oven. Could the pipes get gunged up in a 2010 van so soon?

You could have a fractured gas pipe.I would take it to a lpg agent and get a gas pressure test done and have the oven burner checked.If its not working as normal there is something wrong.Remember faulty gas appliances don't take prisners.
