We have just ordered our new elldis crusader super sirrocco, and will be putting our bailey Cabrera in for px should you leave the Alko locks, mains cable ,and LCD tv in with the van or keep them ?
Tony
Take every thing out they are extras and you dont get them with a new van also the battery. You can sell them later if you dont need them ,get as much as you can from the dealer like a new battery step, ehu as he might not give you "extras".with the new van..
Take everything out. You can sell on line your Alko locks they wont fit the sirroco. But you do get new locks with the new van, they are stupid locks that stick out from the wheel alot, Use your tv and battery in the knew van,
which layout have you got?

Nothing! Take it all, we did, as most dealers will take everything you've left and sell the stuff separately. When they take your van they are just pricing up the van not the extras you kindly leave.
We sold everything privately on ebay ect we no longer could use on our new van, alko ect ect it soon adds up to more £'s to buy stuff for the new one.

If the ALKO locks & TV came supplied with the caravan, then you need to leave them in. The exception is the mains cable as the dealer has to supply a new mains cable with every caravan sold.
Correct everything that is standard spec in/with the van but I would also include keeping the step as a dealer would not dare sell a second hand step or as said the EHU lead.
Why should the next owner have to do without the TV ???
it came standard with the van so it should go with it .
Would you take the spare wheel out of your car before trading it in ?? NO so leave the TV and the locks .
Just thinking what if the tv came as standard with a van and you chopped it in and for some reason the tv was broken ,so you removed it you'd still chop it in without the tv?
Once a van becomes second hand, do all the things that came as standard with the van when new still apply, being that it is a used van, would you still expect the same things in it if you bought it second hand? I don't think that what it had at the time of new would still apply, if the van didn't have them then if you wanted them wouldn't you just simply not buy the van? And look for one that had its tv ect. Or ask the dealer for a tv or buy your own?
Just a thought.

Dealers are out to make money they wont give you extras like a battery or step unless u ask and that can be a fight.
Supplying a step is a requirement in a NCC approved dealers sale of a van or was still in 2008.
As I said earlier I doubt any reputable dealer would dare sell you a second hand step for safety and associated potential negligence claims reasons. I understood they are a major item implicated in personal injuries with caravans, so one of unknown providence and where the dealer cant simply pass any injury claim up to his supplier would be a risk too far.
Having seen more than one plastic one shatter, with near glass like edges, we dump them after five years in use.

You will struggle now to get a 12 Volt interfaced TV from Tesco, just been through that loop with them.
I presume if you find your new van has lower quality/specification bits substituted by the dealer you will just smile and live with his dishonestly in the same spirit?
