Please can any other folding campers advise us how to safely pack up for the winter. This is our first winter with our camper. We will be storing it under cover in a barn but wondered if we should remove the canvas roof. We are concerned about mice getting in for a nibble. Will be grateful for any help,

When we stored ours . We removed all the internal linings ,beddings .and we're we purchased it from caseys in Chester ,he told us to fill any voids with bubble wrap which we did. And finally we put 4 miniature condensation collectors dotted around. We were amazed how much water they collected. Winter cover on and do not put it tight up against a wall or hedge. Put it in a place were air can flow all around. Hope this helps

Thank you, had heard about the bubble wrap but not about condensation collectors, that's a good idea. We are storing in a barn and will take the inner linings off, do you think we will need to take the canvas off? we have a 2004 pennine sterling, cheers

Hi, it's quite a big job to take off the cabin canvas, I think on a pennine you may have remove the roof poles, to slide off the canvas.

Our FC is stored in our garage with the canvas still on, roof and bedroom liners and curtains in vacuum bags. We have left the mattress's and cushions inside but have put moisture catchers inside the camper.

We store with canvas on with silica gel sachets interspersed in the inners and storage areas.

( we collect the sachets that come with cameras and appliances etc, then stick them in one of those net bags supplied with detergents and washing powders).

If you are worried about mice, sprinkle with warfarine!

Mice hate mothballs, so if you don't mind the smell of them (it will take a bit of airing out in the spring!) then get some and put around, on top and inside.

Seems to be working in my shed, and it came from a tip on here! But I don't want the smell in my caravan, so those mothballs are outside and underneath, and by the door, where the little blighters could get in.

We had a Pennine Fiesta for 4 years. At first I stripped out the inner bedroom liners, but for three years after that we left them in with no problems. We did however put her in a garage.

Think about this one...Where would the water have gone if you had not collected & stored it in these handy containers in your camper? It would have just stayed in the air that continues to circulate in, around & out again, which is where you want the water, out, not in.

It would depend on the weather when you checked, the moisture will come & go depending on humidity. All dehumidifying devices do is collect water from the air that is flowing around them, they only serve a purpose in a sealed container with no air circulating in & out. Unless it is completely sealed it is important to ensure you have as much ventilation as possible.
