Having reached a certain age! I find pegging down the awning to be a chore! Why can we not have an awning with a channel at the bottom of each side though which we pass a rod and then peg just the rod at the 4 corners.? So much easier!

What a good idea!!  Pegging out is so boring.  I think you should contact all the manufacturers about this - one of them might be interested.

Do you not think that on a windy day it may not be able to hold the sides down. Depending on the length of the awning.

There is enough of a problem when the wind whips up underneath them already so not having pegs at regular intervals. We have had to hold down the sides with extra weight on the bottom on gusting winds especially.

Unless your going to use a very heavy pole. Possibly it  would not work very well.

Dont think it would work, as on a windy day the awning is like a boat sail.

Could you not try threading a rod of some type through the pegging rubbers and then peg the ends of the rod down and perhaps 1 or 2 along the length, perhaps the fibreglass poles for tents/lightweight awnings might be suitable.

 Just a thought

Plus you wont be able to tension the awning.I peg every single hole, tie. Never give the awning a chance to move.

will not work as there are some really bad nights at times.the wind would lift the awning and the rod still in place.i now use two lots of awning straps full time (even in good weather) plus and including guy ropes x 3.i once saw a caravan where the whole awning had gone over the top and caused a lot of damage with the poles.one pole had gone through the side of the van.
