Please also be aware extinguishers only have a life span of one year, not saying they wont last longer but legally they should be recharged or replaced yearly!

really? the last one I bought (about 18 months ago now) had a 3 year replace by date on the base, as have all the previous ones, I would hope that they would be fine before this date.

They will last longer but 1 year for recharge or replace is recommended and something you have to do if you own a commercial property which have extinguishers for use by staff. I do not claim to know about all different brands but it is part of the Fire Act 2005 for commercial properties to maintain and service each extinguisher at a minimum interval of 1 year. So if they require to be serviced each year it only goes to say that the one we purchase should be too. I know I wont be taking the chance of mine failing !

True, seem to remember during my fire training, the best use for a fire extinguisher is to put through the window to get out.
