Decided when our storage, albeit CASSOA gold accredited, went up to £40 per month to look elsewhere. A friends Dad has offered me a place in a locked barn at a farm for half the price. Thought I'd actually came up trumps for once until I rang the insurance company.  Theft excess goes up from £100 till £500 and they want another £61 for the remainder of the policy which runs till next september, so I expect they'll want an extra £100 per year when my renewal's due. Ah well, can't win them all  17

It's very much a catch 22 situation but looking from the insurers point of view it all involves risk which the policy is reflected on the safety and security of your caravan. The likelihood of a caravan being stolen from a secured compound is much less likely than being kept in a wooden barn plus the fire risk is much higher too so the chance of submitting an insurance claim is going to effectively be less likely kept in a secure location when not in use than it is kept in a partially secured barn.

Thats the reason I insure with the CC as they dont stipulate where your van should be stored. They do give discounts for Cassoah storage but Iv always found them to be decent quotes, you need to read the small print on alot of caravan insurance policies because they might seem cheap quotes but the policy facts are unreal, some mention the size of perimeter fences on storage sites etc etc and they are strict on where the van is stored. Iv read horror stories about caravans being stolen from storage sites and the insurance not paying up because of these types of clauses in the small print. I would certainly shop around before renewal and make sure you read all the wording about storage etc just to make sure you are covered if anything happens.

We pay £45 per month with our Cassoa Gold and get a lot more off to boot. Because of the electric fencing + 24 cctv monitored virtual onsite, and having to travel 30 mile to get to it. We will be staying put, more so nowadays far to many rogues on the lookout for a quick tow away or looking to when it is easy to get it time.

Think about if you lost it what would be the real cost of it, all the underlying ones for replacing, and how much would you REALLY get back to to do so.

As you can see other places are more expensive,  but still worth saving for.

You did say it was Cassoa GOLD so you get what you pay for
