Hi all,

I've just received my new microdots, labels and electronic tag from CRIS.

The tag says it should go somewhere hidden, where it can be read from the out side, but can NOT be read through metal?????

So, without revealing your innermost secrets, can anyone give me a clue where I can put it on a Sprite Major / Sportstyle where it well be hidden, secure and still readable?

Thanks

Jim

if i was doing it i would place it in a small sealed plastic bag, make a small hole and fix a thin strong cord to this bag.remove one of the front marker lights (two screws) tie the bag to the wires of the light ( two wires).check connections to light and feed the bag into the hole so it hangs down inside the front panel.refit the light unit.put some sealer round the light when you refit it to prevent water ingress.

The tags work through plastic windows and so long as it is within about about 30 cm or so of the window it will work. This should give you plenty of choice as to where it will work.

We have been told to put it in the cupboard just inside the door. The one where we have the bottles, glasses etc

It goes up against the outer wall of the c.van. But nothing nearby touch it, damage it or move it accidentally. Apparently ti can be read through the outer wall of your caravan.

Thsi is what we have been told, although we have not put ours in yet as we had already covered all over.

I must admit when reading the info inside it was not as clear as when we ordered it. So have held back from doing it until, we can contact them again to make sure of it.

As yet no one has actually come back on here and said they have the CRIS Xtra on.

Just Googled and have 2 numbers when they are back to work to ask the HPI

01722 411430

0845 300 8905

should get some info from these.

tried the numbers but off for seasonal holiday so I want to phone next week to find out finally just where to put these things to many differing places. Not all caravans made of the same material outside.

Want to put the CRIS X on as soon as we  take the cover off if we cannot do it before that is, so D day is next week for me as it is ridiculous not to have the complete instructions covering the cris x.

Chrissie, glad to know someone a confused as I!
On the wall by the door.... Does that mean the Metal Wall by the Metal Door for the tag that can't be read through Metal....... But I suppose that is slightly more helpful than 'think of somewhere plastic'?????

You'd think that cris, selling themselves as THE caravan people would be a bit more useful - as it took 3 weeks to get my logbook sorted from them but 3 MONTHS to get my assortment of Xtra bits???

Out of interest is cris a proper organisation or is it a bloke, with a PC in his bedroom, getting his merchandise printed in China????

Looking forward to hearing what you find out Chrissie as we are equally baffled!

Not been able to do any yet but found all about it properly.

Put is behind the legs of the bed nearest to the inside van van wall. But not onto the actual inside van wall as it will not register.

This way when you pack things under inside  the beds the actual main electronic thing does  not get interfered with you packed things.

So it is going to be in the front of van, but " tucked" behind the leg nearest the van wall.out of all harms way.

They said it will be read easily. You may want to use the other seat on the offside so it can be read from the other side of the road, Whatever is your choice or whatever you have packed or electrical things you may have  underneath that seating.

Sorry so late in coming back as I have had a whole load of trouble in between, sorted out.,(not caravan wise).

My understanding is that the electronic tag (mine was a self adhesive label rather than a glass vial) should be put on the inside of an outside wall of the caravan so that it can be easily read from the outside without the police having to gain entry to the van.  You should then notify Cris of the tag location.  The Police would contact Chris for this info and the tag can be read through the wall by the scanner that the police use, even if the wall is aluminium.

I found the most fun was going all round the inside of the van with the microdots brush.  Finding a secret squirrel place to paint them was great, and once dry, they became invisible.

Cheers Fred

How about behind your front drawer chest. Just remove a drawer and stick it to the wall as the front is grp so no worries about metal etc.

They told me when I got in touch that it must not be put on the inside of the outside wall as the caravan could have a some form of metal running between in/outside of actual material so it will not register properly.

I went through this so many times because when you read their bumpf which comes with it. it does sound as if that is where you should put it. As I have a cupboard just inside  the door on the left. Can I put it in there at the back to keep it out of the way. They said NO!! because of what the caravan has been made from.

Yes! it is self adhesive, so easy to do. But this issue with the xcris has come up before and was queried so I tried a lot to get in touch with them and would not put mine on till I got the right words I wanted & needed to hear as the answers on another posting conflicted with the answers in the directions from cris x.

Hence their advice to put it either behind a leg making sure it was it had no metal interference.

The drawer in the front was also mentioned as okay as it is near to the front of the c.van.

It has caused confusion from many quarters and not just on here. But a member here had a caravan with some metal or other in-between the moulding.
