Hi
We purchased a 2006 swift challanger on the 2 nd December.
As it was pre loved!! We gave it the once over and pointed out a few bits and bobs that needed sorting. A bit of loose trim and the bunk cushions, ladder and bed sides were all missing. The dealer assured us that they would be sorted and any other bits they came across when they prepared it.
Anyway they chose the handover date of 12th December so we went and saw it. The cushions etc hadn't arrived yet but were on order, fine.
One bit of trim had been sorted and one hadn't then when we went outside we noticed a chip/ crack in the front left window which we hadn't seen as it was frosty when we first saw it. And a end cap was missing. They agreed to sort the end cap and the window as much as possible. So we completed the sale.
Well we haven't heard anymore from them. We've called twice once they were still closed for Xmas and yesterday both in post sales were ill!!
We aren't in a particular rush but its over a month now. All the bits from our old van are stashed all over the house and we want to get the new van sorted out now.
How long do you think is acceptable to wait bearing in mind the holidays. It's a much about the fact they haven't kept us up to date which annoys us.
It's our first experience of buying from a dealership. The last van was passed on from a friend. Is this usual ?
Its already unacceptable but unfortunately you took it away in less than perfect condition, which was a mistake. Now you will just have to hope the dealer is honest, after all he did promise to sort your broken window 'as much as possible'... & what is this 'preloved' you speak of?..It sounds secondhand to me....I suggest you go back to him frequently & phone every couple of days until you get some joy.
Hi.
Pre loved is the nice way of saying second hand.
The dealer still has the van as they are also our storage providers too.
They were going to finish the work and then put the van on our plot when done.
The work is all written down on the order form/ receipt so has been agreed to before sale.
I got the impression that the salesman wanted his commision before Xmas.
We will chase them tomorrow.
Yes, you need to be firm but friendly at this stage, as I said keep in touch often. If the window is cracked on an '06 'van it needs replacing so I would point that out tomorrow. As stated it could be difficult/impossible to source correct pattern cushions for a 7yr old 'van so you might have to compromise on this(if that is ok with yourself)but replacement windows can be produced no problem.
I would suggest you tell dealer you need all work to be completed by end of Jan, if this does not happen & dealer can make no promises by then, it will be reasonable to request a refund.
Brilliant.
The cushions are the universal grey ones for the top bunk so we are lead to believe.
I think the window needs replacing but they said it would look unsightly as would be a different shade to the others.
Luckily I paid deposit on cc and balance using visa debit so have some redress there.
Thanks for your advice.
It sounds like dealer wants to fit a secondhand window of different shade. Replacement windows can be produced using old one as a pattern but not as cheap as secondhand obviously. Its up to you what you find acceptable but obviously dealer would prefer to source parts from breakers if he can. You certainly don't want a cracked window though.
