We have got our van insured wth Caravan Guard. We are happy with cover and cost for keeping the van on our drive, but we have just decided to move it into storage, as we got a cheap deal. I rang to get a quote to get my cover amended and because the storage has CCTV, i was assured an extra 5% off my premium by a lady i spoke to, but when i rang again and spoke to a chap he said it won't apply until my renewal next July and my premiums will remain the same as i am already paying.

Seeing as i am only six months through the year, should the second six months have the extra 5% discount applied bacause I am sure if it was the other way round they would have made me pay the extra 5%. I feel a bit 'diddled'

What shall i do...advice please?

I think the discount should apply from the point the change was made, if you had taken from storage to your drive, I'm sure that they would remove the premium immediately.
There might be a admin fee as well for making a change to the policy.

Half way through the year means you're worrying over 2.5% - is it worth it? The admin fee to change the policy will probably be more than the saving.

They have you over a barrel. Either pay up or cancel the policy, pay the cancellation fees and take out a new policy. I had a similar situation a few years ago with motor insurance when I bought a bigger car and transferred the insurance, I was told the new car would cost an extra £120 a year and had to pay the full amount despite only having 3 months left to run on the policy.

I bet you didn't read all the Terms & Conditions when you took the Policy out, did you? It is probably stated in there!
