On taking my awning down in a hail storm last november I managed to dent my caravan with one of the poles, it is a horizontal dent about an inch long(not deep), it has not broken the skin, if you see what I mean. I feel very annoyed about it, have any members had these sort of dent repaired, can I claim on insurance or would I be better off just to grin and bear it?
I have 3 small dents below awning rail its best just to live with it i know it makes you gutted at the time but i never notice it now infact forgot about it till i saw your post lol
I had the same on a previous van and was very annoyed, but it was the same as yours had not pierced the skin so i learnt to live with it, and after time did not seem to be as bad. After another six years i traded it in and dealer did not even mention it when allowing p/x.
Sorry to remind you about your dents Rab, thanks for the quick replies, I will have a think about the reflector idea, a trip to Halfords looks on the cards, I know it's nothing major but I have not had the van long and was so annoyed at the time.
I have a few dents on the nearside of my caravan where previous owners have been careless with awning poles but the price was far less than that of a caravan in excellent condition so I saved on the purchase price. The fact of the matter is that you can still enjoy your time out without worrying about visual defects because at least the metal won't rust the same as a car dent will. Caravan sides are non ferrous which are not magnetic therefore contains no Iron which of course rusts in time. If you pay out to have dents repaired and then you unfortunately create one afterwards accidentally you will think you that the previous repairs were a waste of money. The only downside is that when you come to sell, it could possibly affect the value the same as mine.
Oh dear!!! know how you feel it's really annoying isn't it?
We have one that we did when ours was quite new but there are minor dent's and really I don't know how they appear but I expect stones and debri can fly up at it whilst travelling.
I have some blue butterfly stickers I sent for from ebay and each dent is covered by one of these more pleasant to look at than a dent I feel.
same happened to us andy on our second outing with our brand new van. our dent is half way down just above the refrigarator vents .it really upset me and could have spoilt the holiday but i had to grin and bare it as we were away for 5 weeks.
its not that big but i know its there so maddening but hey ho worse things could have happened but didnt.our new ventura awning was been taken down on our last day not windy by the way and out of the blue a gust of wind came and our awning ended up on top of the van .not a mark just one broken bayonet joint so i can count ourselves as been very lucky
