Welcome to the forums laraine! I'm sure you'll get plenty of help with your queries, especially if the webmaster moves your post to the caravan forum.

It varies from model to model, you could search online for a manual for your caravan, there are quite a few you can download in pdf

Ask in the Caravan forum, and state the year and type of van you have, someone is bound to know

For anyone picking a new van up; its worth videoing the dealer/owner showing you how it all works at the handover. You think you will 'remember' when you get it home. No you wont!

Hi Laraine

We bought a used caravan a few years ago and it took a while to work out how it all worked!

Battery - sometimes they charge automattically, mainly on newer vans. Our older van (1995) had an unlabeled switch a floor height with a red light on.

My advice would be to open up the under seat storage and find the battery charger, if its warm, then its on (provided you are hooked up to the mains). If you have a voltmeter on your control panel, then you should see the voltage go up if the charger comes on automatically when you connect to the mains. If not then try every switch to see if the voltage goes up!

Make sure your battery is in good condition before you charge it otherwise you might cook it (like I did!).

The problem with many older vans is that things like battery chargers were retro fits so the caravan manual may not provide any clues.

Hope this helps, and happy vanning!
