I was just having a ponder today as my van has gone in for it's annual service, and wondered what you would do about warranty work if the supplying dealership no longer existed or was no longer an agent for your make?
I know everyone turns down work if they don't sell the unit, so what would happen in this case?
I think you would have to take to an authorised dealership for your make (as per cars).
But have a chat with the makers see what they say. If they are no longer in bussiness then I think it will all be down to you.

Mine is still under warranty and my dealership has stopped being an agent for Elddis. However it will still do servicing and all warranty work. Your dealer should as well. So, check with your dealer that it is still doing the warranty work for the van.

we have had this actually happen with our Sprite Quattro
Dealer from where we purchased the van went bust in Taunton.
as van was still within warranty Swift were very specific in the T&C's and it had to go to an authorised dealer.
so found another in Weston Super Mare that i did not originally know of. They were very helpful and did servicing and warranty work for us, despite us not buying from them.
It paid off too as we ended up buying another van from here recently.
It's not a problem for me (as far as I know anyway), I was just wondering. Given the current financial situation, it's probably not unheard of a dealer disappearing.
I think, but am not certain, that "approved workshops" can do servicing & warranty work for all ncc registered makes from new. It may well be worth checking with any local workshops if they can. If they can then it may be an option for anyone in the position where the local dealer is no longer trading. Our own caravan is serviced by a local caravan workshop, and has processed claims to Lunar for warranty work with no problem for us. I also believe that mobile engineers working under the MCEA banner can also provide this service.

thats what we thought, but it depends on the T&Cs for each manufacturer. With our sprite we had to go to an authorised / listed dealer...i.e. it had to be on their list on their website.
Ive been through this exact problem, bought a caravan and company went bank within six months, just after found several things wrong that were covered by warranty. Contacted manufacturer who stated that van had to go to named company and they gave me a list of five company's then had problems getting a company to do the work ended up going to a company that no longer sold my type of caravan. The work was done and this company agreed to do servicing work for me but when I later contacted them to do the service they stated they no longer did work for that company so they would not do the service. Ended up going to one of the other firms and spent days grovelling to get the service done.
That's the sort of thing that worries me Ard - the fact that the dealerships (by & large) wont touch a van that they haven't supplied. You end up relying on the goodwill of a new dealership.
My potential situation would be slightly different, in that the dealership does still exist but no longer do any business with Swift. I was told categorically that I'd have to take it up with Swift .
Fingers crossed that I don't need to worry about it for the remainder of the warranty.
