So its that time of year again where I get the ladder out, and balance precariously on the top of it to wash the roof of the caravan getting as wet as the caravan in the process. I thought this year I would give it a polish (the whole caravan not just the roof) and brought a large bottle of autoglym super resin polish. Is it safe to use on all of the van, my main concern is on the plastic parts such as the gas locker door etc, and what do other people do / use for cleaning their vans?

I too use Autoglym, but I use Fenwicks to wash it.
I also have used Mer which is a bit more hard work than Autoglym but seems to last longer, so I use that on the roof and Autoglym on the sides.
Been considering this .
Too much work Jaiash with autogylm though a good polish but carnuba wax is the way to go and Showroom Shine has it.There is no fear of scratching the windows with dirt.
As a lot know im a BIG fan of it and so are my followers now..
Not specifically answering about detergent, but when cleaning my caravan roof I use a Vileda supermop. It is absolutely BRILLIANT! It reaches right over the halfway point and cleans very effectively all around the skylights, and you don't get soaked!
Thank you for all the replies. Never tried showroom shine as I was worried about scratches after being somewhat of a traditionalist with bucket brush & hose, but after seeing so many people recommending it I might well give it a go. Do you need to polish afterwards or does it cut the need for that?
Roll on the 23rd March when we go away!

I think I have tried every car polish going over many years, from Autobrite,Rexen (German polish)you name it I have tried it on cars & Motorcycles.
I was watching Ideal World about 4-5 years ago , so being gullible I though I would give it a try, as it seemed to make life a little easier.
Well I was so impressed at the ease of cleaning my car & motorcycles (I have 2 big bikes) I'm still singing it's praise.
To be honest, all cars & motorcycles in recent years use 2 pack paint and clear lacquer, so you don't get the paint coming off like years ago and I think this helps.
Also, when it rains, it seems to bead off nicely.I only polish twice a year now and just wipe off with a damp cloth in between

I hate to say this but,i think people get stuck in a time wrap and are frightened to try new things.Showroom shine when sprayed on to the dirtiest plastic caravan windows will not scratch them when wiped off.
When i do my van with it i wrap a cloth round a floor brush, spray it on the van then rub it on.I do the full van like this then with fresh tied on cloth i polish it off its SO easy and very fast..
