We've given up on finding a four berth that can accommodate three large people and me so we've decided that as there will be more occasions when it's two of us goin we'll have a lovely two berth instead.
Welcome to our world Knaus Starclass 470
Couldn't find a Geist 485 without signs of warping and our bottle went so after spotting one of these beauties we have done the deed.
From a fairly extensive google I haven't come across too many issues with these but as ever if anyone knows better please shout out before we finalise things
Theres were heavy and expensive tourers, sold by Discover Leisure no less - rare and generally solid but spares such as trim can be a problem so make sure you dont knock it
But glad you have a tourer - spacious interiors but upholstery can loose support
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
The origins are that they were specifically designed for the now long defunct Hants & Dorset caravans at Purbrook near Portsmouth. H &D failed and were taken over by the Discover Group and the old stock of Strarclass vans that were by then all built were taken around the group looking for wider sales. Two batches were built for H & D.
We were close, very close to being a customer but they had issues with weight distribution and so had to remove the spare from its dedicated mount in the front locker and use an underslug rear carrier to get them near tolerable. We thought that somebody in Knaus design or H & D who specified the build, really had taken their eye off the fundamentals, so concerned at such an error we walked away. They were at that time very expensive, and glad we did not complete as they then massively discounted them as the business started to fail.
That said they were lovely vans appearing very well built, which was the case with the original Knaus companies products.
Hope it brings a lot of enjoyment.

Hants and Dorset did not fail they were bought out by Discover who then sold the site on to developers.
Discover then went into administration.
We've been back for a second look and we're really excited now. It's going to be after Easter before we can pick it up but we've nothing booked so it's not the end of the world.
I need some covers for those cream seats though. I'm hoping a single fitted sheet will be the right size
