if it's any help at all i have a Tom-Tom but wish i'd got a snooper,( can't justify the expense for the number of times it would actually get used).

my mate has just bought a brand spanking new snooper £400+ worth, have had a borrow of it and it has to be the best sat-nav i've used personally, you can input your out-fits length, weight and height ( ideal for him as he's a trucker as well as a caravanner) it then calculates your route avoiding narrow roads,low bridges etc, plus his has all the camp sites you could wish for both here and abroad, all pre-loaded.

add to that the fact it  has the dab radio / tv etc in short it's all singing and all dancing with ,as you say, lifetime updates too what more could you want ?

am i just a tad jealous ? ............you bet i am

I have a Garmin, one off payment for lifetime updates for U/?europe

. I aslo bought N America on micro SD for a reasonable price(used in Canada in 2011).

I have just bought the Camper Europe map for our TomTom 820 Live & done a couple of test route plans. Entering the unit details was nice & easy. You can switch back to car when not towing too. Live traffic works with the map as well.

On both routes the Tomtom followed the route give in the Caravan Club handbook including going to Daleacres & from experience a standard Tomtom will try & take you the wrong way with 6' 6" except for access roads.

For £80 for the map it looks a good buy.
