We have bought a 2nd hand Dorema Toronto porch awning and after erecting the frame and checking the awning today we are after a bit of advise.
There arent any pads to attach to the awning channel/sit against the caravan and looking at the diagram there arent supposed to be any. There are foam pads that the vertical poles go up against and ties to fasten them. Does this sound normal?

It's worth asking for advice from Dorema as these quick lock pads can be purchased direct from them on 01977-555215. I found their customer services quite helpful actually when we bought our Dorema awning direct from their factory clearance.
There should be a second beading inside the awning canvas (alongside the one that fits into the awning rail), which they slide onto. The horizontal roof poles then fit into the quicklock pads and hold them against the caravan wall. Hope that makes sense?
Same as yours. Thread the awning through the rail, place the back uprights against the padded bits and tie the tapes loosely. Put the two horizontal poles across the roof and adjust the back poles to roughly awning rail height. Join the two front legs together with the front horizontal, feed the short bits through the holes at the front and then connect the side bits to the back poles, fit the two short bits athe front, fit the pegs through the holes then fit the front crossbar. Adjust the uprights so that the skirt is level all way round, peg the corners nearest the van, then the front corners whilst ensuring the awning is square to the van. Then fit rest of pegs loosely, tighten frame to awning, final tension on pegs, fit curtains. Have a pint, you'll be ready for it !!
After a couple of go's you'll find it a dodddle, takes about 15 - 20 minutes
thank you very much firebasher, thats brilliant. Will print this off and take it with us. My OH will be relieved, he was convinced there should be quick lock pads with it. Do you storm straps with yours?

Yes, I only fit them if wind expected though. I think they are a great awning, also forgot to mention, you can fit the mud flaps in or out, your choice. I usually have a couple of folding chairs, a small table for my radio, and a larger table which I have a George Foreman on, drinks cooler fridge under the table and rubbish bin at the side.
very similar set up to us firebasher. Hoping theres enough room for a third chair for our teenage daughter although tbh she never sits down long enough to warrant a chair!!

I attach awning to rail first. Then with the rear legs and rear section assembled walk this into the awning taking care not to catch the van. I then tie the legs to the rear pads. I then walk the front section into the awning and attach each of the sides. with the awning in a colapsed state I then fit the canopy pole and the small canopy legs. The final thing then is to tension the poles and finally peg down.
