Can I just ask, if you take your caravan into the dealers for damp repair work, would you expect it to come back with no visible sign of the repair?
We have a 2009 caravan which has been missing the seal around the external toilet compartment since it came out the factory, as a result the wall board in the toilet had a visible 'spongy' bulge obviously with water getting in.
The seal has now been repaired but they didn't replace the wall board. I was concerned with dampness behind it so they told me no problem we have on site carpenter will get the wall board replaced...they have cut above the toilet and replaced that bit of wall behind the toilet but now we have a VERY noticeable join running above the toilet. Patched with a strip of lining paper!
We've been told that "this is a good repair and they're very happy with it" but I'm not of the same opinion!
Has anyone else had damp repair work done under warranty which is a noticeable repair?
The caravan also came back with a large split in the shower cubicle, which they want £200 to repair! We don't use the shower, and it certainly wasn't there when we took it in. They of course are denying any damage.
Nicky

I would expect it to be undetectable.

under warranty conditions there should be no evidence of a repair it should be as it left factory imho.

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

We've had several lots of damp work done in the past.
No-one would know there had been repairs!
I would say that this work you've had done is unacceptable.
If this was carried out under warranty, I would certainly contact the manufacturers direct for their comments.
Attach photos to back up your evidence.
Unfortunately, I dont know how you stand regarding the shower. Obviously, you will get the blame because you can't prove otherwise!
Best of luck

We had our interestingly also 2009 lunar 546 in for a warranty repair in for a badly sealed heater outlet in shower- a known fault in this van. I discovered the corner trim opposite kitchen at the bottom had flared out and was spongey but no sign of water indicating a slight leak through from shower behind it. They replaced the shower tray initially thinking it had a hairline fracture only to discover that split hadn't fully penetrated tray, but at least we know that they have seen what was going on behind tray so no water damage as fortunately it was a very light leak nipped in the bud.

They have now sorted heater outlet and all seems resolved we are now just waiting to have trim replaced as we agreed to leave it off temporarily to be absolutely sure that they had resolved the issue, so we'll have that put back on next service as no problems since. Apart from that no sign of any work having been done just a quality repair.

I have to say our dealer has been amazing, they sorted out other very minor issues I.e. locker catch and socket where plug kept falling out no questions asked and whilst this repair was under way their service centre manager phoned us weekly with updates and put pressure on Lunar to successfully fund all repairs we haven't paid a penny and van was out of warranty when last work was carried out.

Put pressure on your dealer to liaise with Lunar to get your work done under warranty. We will buy from Leisure Sales again for sure!
