Sorry previously posted in wrong section

I am going to sterilise the caravan water system today and it got me wondering whether it is necessary to sterilise my aquaroll mains water food grade hose at the beginning of the season? If so what do you use and how do you do it?

Completely submerge the hose in a solution 'Puriclean' is the best way. If you follow the instructions on the tub you can't go wrong.

The problem with Milton is that it doesn't destroy the 'bio-film' which is the surface film that bacteria clings to so it's not 100% hygenic. Milton contains a harsh chemical that will in time will attack and corrode metal parts such as those in the hot water tank. The link I posted tells you all about Puriclean and what the product does along with other products that the company manufactures for various applications.

Thanks for the responses.

I have already got Puriclean to sterilise the caravan water system, I do this every year.  I have a 10 metre aquaroll mains adaptor hose, is it possible to completely fill the hose with the Puriclean solution by submerging in a bucket?

If the bucket is big enough then yes you can but make sure you submerge the hose in clear water a couple of times afterwards. The key is to use the correct amount of Puriclean in the volume of water you have and to leave it in soak for as long as the instructions state. That way you destroy any unwanted bacteria and bio-film prior to fresh water usage. It's no different to chemically cleaning home made wine utensils whereby you have to submerge everything in the right solution for the correct period of time before using to destroy any bacteria.
