Just thought I would share my exciting news!!! I have just agreed to buy my first ever caravan!! I will get it on 20 April, after it has been taken back to the dealer by the present owner for its first service!!
Very excited now!! I have a nice little storage yard near me as my drive is too steep to get it up there. It is only two miles down the road so I can go and see it every day if I want to!!! Soooooo excited!
Just need to get my tow car sorted now, my towing course booked and then I am away!
It is a private sale from a friend of the family and he is going to go through absolutely everything as we are now temporarily in unknown territory!!
Had to share with you all! Have a great day everybody!
MadMum (getting more excited by the minute!!

Congratulations! You'll never regret it. We moved from a tt to a caravan last year. My dh did a course with ccc which really boosted his confidence although he is a good driver it was the reversing bit which was useful to him. We are just finishing our Easter hols and I am sitting in my lovely van now. There is no way I would have gone away in tt at Easter (we have 2 kids and also I am too soft!) So having a caravan means we can get away so much more. Dh tends to take down the awning evening before we go so in the morning there is a bit of cleaning and draining down and away we go. We love it and you will too. The people on here are so generous with their advice too.
Excellent! We did camp over Easter in our tent and, although the site was lovely, it wasn't what I would call a pleasant experience!
I have never towed before and intend on being able to tow by myself when I take the little ones away. I am very nervous at the prospect but everybody I know has said it is easy. It may well be until reversing and meeting somebody in a country lane! He he!
Enjoy the rest of your hols. I love the sound of a bit of cleaning and draining down! That is what holidays are about! Not hours of setting up and packing away!!

Congrats, I remember posting on here 3 years ago when we were waiting to pick our first van up, having moved up from a trailer tent, so I know just how you are feeling (and just how long the next 2 weeks will be). All I can say is that in our experience you won't look back. As to storage, we have our van a couple of miles from home and are often to be found between trips sat on the storage site with a brew (we can leave the gas bottle attached on our site) and a sarnie doing needless jobs, just because even there we are a million miles away from the day to day stresses of life
Hope you and the family make many wonderful memories in your new home from home
------------- Why have kids when you can have a dog?
yeehah...well done mad mum. We had ours delivered yesterday and it looks much bigger in the drive way than i remembered...oh well, if it comes to it I'll have to find storage. Think I'll get the heater on and have a couple of beers in it tonight, neighbours will think i'm nuts..lol
Congratulations! Exciting news all round, we have just heard our new van will be built April 16, unfortunately we cannot collect until May 3, but then we will have the long weekend to enjoy....
------------- Yes, the car is bigger than the 'van.
Great news! Don't know if you have read my posts but we have just bought our first caravan too. The dealer in Shrewsbury is delivering it to a site in mid Wales as we are having a seasonal pitch there. My OH company won't allow a tow bar on his car and mine isn't big enough to pull it. It is being delivered next Wednesday and we will be in it on Fri for the weekend. Can't wait...a whole week! I know how you're feeling, it's so exciting. I am looking forward to meeting loads of new people. If you're ever on Erwbarfe Farm site in Devils Bridge, near Aberystwyth, come and say "Hello" and have a cuppa., we will be in a Coachman Pastiche.
Really pleased for you, have you thought where the first trip will be to?
I was lying in bed in the caravan the other night remembering the days of running across a field to the loo in the night after too much wine. Its so much easier in the van!!!!
