Hi all, Having toured for many years and read this forum likewise, Am I right in thinking that this year in particular, there does seem to be a lot more 'Newbies' to vanning than is usuall? Of course they are all welcome, but if we are blessed with any kind of Summer pitches may be harder to come by. So folks as the saying goes 'Book early to avoid dissapointment'.
Regards
John
------------- Life is our Holiday enjoy it before its time to go back!
I said this to my sister yesterday, she bought a van last year, I said its increased in the time me and OH have been doing it ( 8 years) so get your bookings in, she looked at me as if I was stupid, she thinks she'll be able to book a few days before in the school summer holidays, maybe she will, but it's definitely getting harder, our son no longer comes with us so we can go other times, but I already noticed the increase back then.
And yes definitely an increase this year, I know five people who have just bought caravans since January.
------------- "I'm a fool for my dogs"
Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.
The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
There are definitely more people getting into camping and caravanning so there will obviously be a greater demand for pitches, particularly during peak times such as the school holidays.
I have got all my trips booked for this year that I really want to go on but may try and add a few more in at short notice!
One site I contacted in the middle of February told me they were already fully booked for July and August.
Probably getting more popular after the terrible summer we had last year, with it van it's more comfortable even if the weathers rubbish. A very windy trip in a tent 3 years ago converted me, firstly to a FC then a caravan.
We book all school holidays in November to January for the year ahead. Wouldn't risk missing out on places I want to go. Will try and get some odd weekends in between but I think you do need to plan if ypu need school holiday times.
Seems like quite a few have changed from canvas to caravans after the last couple of summers. We changed from FC to van after a whole year of wet pack ups. Hopefully more caravanners will lead to more sites and/or pitches.

Same here too, although I have now just rang them all again this week and told them I am bringing a caravan rather than a tent!!

Once in lifetime trip to Florida Oct 2015!!!
Last summer me and the wife went to the Isle of Wight with the in laws, we was talking to a lady in front of us who had the same spot in the same week every year for I think she said 40 years and the spot had been booked up ready for this summer coming so she couldn't have, also I went to check the avarability for the same week this summer and they had 3 spaces left so I booked 1, the in laws booked 1 and their friend booked another.
So I think that you need to book early to avoid disappointment.
The apalling weather last year. One shredded tent. One sodden tent bleurgh. One cancelled holiday because we couldnt bear the thought of all that rain again!
My back and hands getting more poorly
Length of time to set up and even worse to strike camp.
