What do you mean by a "360 degree tow hitch"?
Do you mean the whole towhitch can swivel through 360 degrees?

The hitches in question turn 360 degrees. When looking at the hitch as if you were sat in the boot of the car, it would be possible turn it upside down (not hitched up of course)

I would be pretty confident these were gone long before 1990.

I've a vague recollection of this type of hitch, but surely there can't be any movement and hitch must stop in a set position, otherwise you are defeating the very purpose of the Alko from gripping and doing it's job.

Hi Have recived e.mail from AL-KO regarding fitting stabilizer to 360 degree rotating tow hitch,The reason they are not compatable is the possibility that it could rotate and apply the hand brake while towing, less stability going over Hump backed bridges. And in extreme situation were the wheels of the caravan are off the ground the hitch could go beyond the 25 degrees that the AL-KO hitch allows.I think that means if you were travelling at such speed over a hump backed bridge both wheels of the caravan could leave the ground.Bit extreme I think.RON

From my LR days, I thought the only thing compatible with a 360 hitch was something like a Sankey trailer with a "ring" type towing eye.

Any chance you could post a picture of your hitch?

might take a few days, caravan undercover at the moment,my main concern is wether it is possible to unhitch.Your description on previous post is spot on. I have seen a number of caravans the same design and age as main fitted with the same unit ,and AL_KO have said the are aware they are fitted to these unit without problems.

I wouldn't have thought they would unhitch, but it wouldn't work as a stabiliser and would probably wear the pads quickly.
