Can anyone advise me on the best awning to leave up on a seasonal pitch.

Whatever you decide on the way to stop it from blowing away when your not there is to double up on roof and support poles and add a storm strap
The more support you can give it the more chance it will stay put.
most collapses are caused by the roof poles coming out of their caravan awning rail brackets in high wind, the awning then moves inwards towards the van and the roof fills up with water and then it collapses. the loose poles then batter the side of the caravan.
Sorry if it sounds a bit negative but we have been on a seasonal for a few years now and we have seen this happen many times and been involved with trying to save other peoples awnings when they are not there.
the pictures show some suggestions.
the Awnings that seem to have least problems that i have seen are isobella and Inaca but there are other good makes out there that members will recommend

Alpiner is bang on the money
Get a quality awning and put plenty poles up, I use 7 roof and 7 front and keep storm poles poles ready to go
Also use pipe lagging to protect the fabric
Sand bags around the draught skirt help keep the awning on the floor
Have a look for a second hand awning, I got a 1050 Ventura inc annexe for £100

My favourite awning was a Eurovent Montreaux. Designed to stay up all year in the Alps (I never tried it) it was a lovely awning and felt very cosy with the false ceiling. The site we were on was very high and open so very little protection from the wind but be never had a bit of trouble with the awning. We also had the annex as we slept in the awning. They're not easy to find but we got ours on line from Jeff Bowen Awnings and they are very reasonably priced - un like the ever popular Isabella awnings. Eurovent are the same company (I think) as Trigano who specialise in trailer tents. Certainly worth a look.

We have an NR awning. Was up all last season and still looks like new. Our site gets high winds and it stood up well. We do follow all the tips above. We have also inserted bits of felt between the poles and the canopy bit (overhang) to stop chaffing. Well pgged down with decent very long pegs.
