Hi hope someone can help we have a 2004 Bailey Ranger and last year we had a few problems with the water pump sometimes it would work sometimes it didn't once I had removed it and replaced it it would work OK for a while think it was a bad connection. So to combat this I went and bought a new pump I could not get the identical pump because they have made new versions mine was probably about 10 years old and they have modified them over time after trying the new pump I have found it does not switch off it just keeps running my question is do you have to alter anything after fitting a new water pump?Ian

You may need to adjust the pressure switch that controls the pump switching on and off . If adjusting it doesn't work it may be stuck .

Hi wizard I have just been out looking at the van it looks the same as in your pictures the old pump is a Whale submersible 921 which was with the van when we bought it however I have been messing about with it and have cleaned the electrical connections and that seems to have fixed the problem for now apart from a small leak on the outside of the van running down from the connection I think this could be the 2 o rings may need replacing. The new pump is a Whale Premium EP1322 which is the replacement model for the 921 but still can't find the pressure switch think it must be behind the front plate.Ian

Well wizard I have just been looking again at your link and the pictures and thinking things out in my head and I now think I have got it you can adjust the pressure switch from inside the van so I will try the old pump and if it works ok then I will have the new one as a spare and if it keeps on running I should be able to adjust as required Thank you very much for all your help and information regarding this problem.Ian

If you have a Whale monoblock it could be a defective tap. Take the plug out of the top of the tap, remove the handle by lifting it, then see if the square plastic fitting inside the handle is broken.

To adjust the pressure switch, fill system as normal.close all taps, get all the air out of the taps and heater so the water is running free at each tap.switch pump off at the switch.on the pressure switch turn the wheel carefully all the way down clockwise.turn on the pump at the switch it may not run.open the nearest cold tap.very slowly unscrew the pressure switch just until it starts clicking, stop.close tap and try it.the pump should go off a few seconds after the tap is closed.we have the ranger 500/5.a good indication is the green light,it should only come on when a tap is opened and go out a few seconds after.it may need a couple of goes to to get it spot on.if it does not stop clicking check for ANY leaks because this will switch on the pressure switch and make it click.a leak outside may not be the two washers it could be the blue pipe on the pump has pulled off inside the white plug caused by pulling to hard.i have done this myself.easy fix, undo white plug two screws carefully as not to bend the contacts.push the blue pipe back on and refit screws.
