We bought our touring caravan last year it is 18 years old but in excellent condition as only one owner before us it is a swift diamond pirouette, however it does not have an oven just a grill and hob we are thinking of fitting and oven and have seen some on e-bay second hand does anyone know roughly how much a gas man would charge to fit one as it might not be worth it. Any advice appreciated. Thank you
Workshop rates are are £70ph, I guess it would take a couple of hours at least to fit & you would have to hope your ebay bargain oven worked properly so not really worth it.
We have an oven in ours but don't use it as I always use my halogen oven its cleaner and more accurate in my opinion and with the shelves out it fits perfectly in the oven lol
Hi we don't have an oven or Grill or even Microwave for that matter just a 3 burner hob (yes its a new caravan, Adria), we bough a Cadac BBQ instead and have found there is absolutely nothing we cannot cook with it. Its fun, and easy to use and thats cooking for 4, Breakfast and Dinner (evening meal).
Would not be without the Cadac now.
Ovens in my opinion are good only for cooking Fray Bentos steak and kidney pies. So we got rid of ours, and the grill which wasn`t brill . . our gas bottle now lasts 15 months on a 4 burner hob. We haven`t missed either the oven or the grill.

Along with the halogen oven we also have a two ring electric hob so just use the gas grill and occasionally one or two rings and our gas bottle has lasted us four years and still some left in it.
We have an oven in our van and tbh it is not the best. I went and bought a halogen oven and use that instead. We use it out in the awning as space is limited but now I would not be without it.

I've got an old Sprite (1972) and cater for 6 out of my tiny oven and two rings - just love it to pieces but I also have a 1980's Avondale with no gas/oven at all! Never got round to re-connecting - just manage with electric ring, elec oven, slow cooker, electric griddle, bbq etc etc which we store under to benches when not in use and set up in the awning/outside - never cook inside in that caravan at all and try not to eat inside unless we have to - keeps the mess and crumbs outside! good luck with whatever you decide to do!
