Possibly faulty regulator on gas bottle, they don't last forever.

It could stil be faulty. If its affecting more than one appliance it suggests a fault in the gas supply.

I know it's money, but maybe worth getting it checked by a gas safe registered engineer, it might be the regulator, it might be a blockage somewhere eg perished pipe.

I would recon things are working as they should,
fires do make a loud popping sound when you first light them ,if you hold the valve down a little too long before striking the igniter.
the hob, when you ignite the back burner, and it comes on "powerfull" then settles back, could be just using "warm" gas in the pipes, then when the colder gas comes through from the bottle it dous'nt "gas" as much.
front burner fault could just be a blocked jet or top flame ring not seated correctly

I predict a riot !!

just re-read your post, if one burner won't light, I would rule out regulator fault.
More likely to have a blockage on the front burner stopping gas getting to it!

I think you were spot on G Winger, we arrived at van yesterday , i cleaned the front burner then put it back and ignited it, it lit straight away no power surge at all , the fire ignited   without a pop as well , so it does look like it was cold gas at the back of warm gas .
