I do all my own maintenance but my van is a 97 model and I know what I am doing I also get my gas checked out by a qualified friend. If your van is only five years old then you may invalidate any remaining warranty. Also it's not just the running gear wheels, brakes etc. that are serviced your hitch, damp check, electrical safety, chassis and all joints are checked. I would say the older your van gets the more important the service is.
