No need to join either Club if you don't want to - there are plenty of sites out there!
However, there are benefits to be being a member of one or both of the 2 main Clubs: * cheaper site fees than non-members * discounts on things like insurance * access to small 5 van CL or CS sites * rallies and meets * Temporary Holiday Sites (THS) * monthly magazine
I am a member of both Clubs and personally find the membership fees worth the mopney but there are others who think it is a waste of time.
I would recommend reading previous threads (as linked above), having a good look at both the Club websites, think about what you want to get out of a Club abd then decide which one, if any, is right for you and your family. It may be worth considering joining for a year and see if you find it worth your while.
Risking starting another thread when there are so many already. The ONLY benefits that I can see (having been in) is access to CL CS sites although many of these accept non members and rallies & meets if this is your thing.
The club sites are cheaper for members but expensive to start with as a club offering. The discounts and offers on stuff can generally be bettered elsewhere.
The magazines are 75% advertising.
As a non believer I think Helen's idea of joining for a year to see if you benefit is a sound plan but there is life outside of the "clubs".
We are in both clubs for the sake of the grandchildren as they have a safe place to play and very clean.also it gives you lots of choices of sites to pick from.i can not draw a line between the two main clubs as to quality of service.keswick is our favourite site.think you save about £5 pp a night if you are a member.

Currently in both but will be dropping the C&CC at the end of the year. Insurance through the CC is much cheaper for us and we haven't been disappointed by any of the sites we've been to. On the other hand we've been a bit underwhelmed by the C&CC sites we've stayed on.
You don't need to be in a club though I agree. Many club sites are also open to non members. You can join on site if you need to
It was more for the insurance deals to be fair. As said there are plenty of sites out there and we have stayed on cl sites despite not being members. Cheers for your responses folks

Never been in the Caravan Club after reading on here what a nightmare it is trying to book their sites (always booked up).
We are in the C&CC and have been for many years now. We have found their site prices to be cheaper than CC and they also do family deal prices, which can make quite a difference if you have kids. Downside is they don't have as many sites as the CC.
We also do our RAC and insurance cover with them and make quite a saving.
Joined c.c. when we first bought the van as it seemed the appropriate thing to do....or so we thought, personally very disappointed with their booking policy which allows members to book en mass without a deposit then decide where to go nearer the date, thus depriving other people of a pitch.
Also to be honest we have found quite a fair share of other non c.c. sites that are just as good, in fact better than c.c. sites.
Never been a member of c&cc so can't comment on their policies.
Just my personal opinion, no offence intended.
