what are my rights when my caravan has a fault but the supplying dealer will not repair it,under their warranty? he will not even answer my calls!
i feel a bit stuck as to what to do.
.and exactly how is the problem covered by warranty...what does the warranty say?...................and how did the defect arise?.... ....and how long after you bought the van did it arise?
Did you buy the van or is it subject to HP?

Goodness where do I start.
We have had a bad relationship since day one with him not keeping to his promises.
But to cut a long long story short,
My surge damper broke, the dealer came to fix it and blamed me, we argued as the drain taps were not functioning correct so the water system would not drain. The van had been for a service the same month and the drain taps had been overlooked.
Now, the water pump keeps coming on every 30 seconds or so, no matter how I adjust it I simply will not turn off when the system is full.
This could be an easy fix for a caravan engineer, but the boss will not return any calls.
I still have a warranty until November but not sure what to do because if I go to his dealership in Brighouse, West Yorkshire I will end up losing my rag with the smug so and so!!
unless you have a water leak then adjusting the pressure switch is easy.
fill system with water as normal removing all air from the taps
turn the white screw very slowly clockwise until it gets to the bottom.
switch on the pump.
open the nearest cold tap, there may not be any water delivered.very gently unscrew the wheel anti clock wise ,just until the pressure switch starts to click and water is running.
stop.
close the tap as this is the right setting.
the green light for the pump should go out a few seconds after the tap is closed.if after this it still clicks on and off without any tap use.you could have a slight leak in the system.
if you do not find a leak change the pressure switch.

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I can't on my system, the surge damper has an integrated pressure switch so adjusting isn't as straight forward.
Even though I have adjusted as per the instructions the pump still comes on by itself, so I am wondering if anything else is a miss with the water system.
The surge damper is a truma make and like I say the pressure switch is built in.
What you want is a working caravan now, not in 6mnths time. Have you investigated the cost of fixing this? Any sort of action you might take will take months & the dealer appears intransigent, if the cost of fixing is not high you might as well sort it yourself.

Not sure how to fix it or where to find it though!
Will give it a coat of looking at tomorrow.
the non return valve is at the end of cold water inlet pipe on a truma heater, removing the non return means taking off the pipe.i have conformation from truma if required.what happens is the hot water runs back into the barrel.this causes spluttering and a delay in delivery of water by about three seconds.it would also cause a loss of pressure until the tank has filled.a sign of this is a warm pipe on the pump outside.
