Ya gotta be as considerate as possible, we know that. Now, the house next door to us has a shared drive, and I`ll need to encroach quite a lot on his side to get the outfit out (I`m off tomorrow lol). He`d be advised to shift his car off the drive for safety`s sake. Now I don`t envisage a problem; he seems an OK guy. But it is an inconvenience to a degree which most folk would like to not have.
The house has been empty for the last four years, and we`ve had the `van for two of `em.
Do you guys have any problems/stories or even advise? It`s a common enough situation I guess . .
------------- Peripheral people don`t have as much excitement but they sure live longer
If I were you I'd be off round tonight for a word, let him know what time you're going and perhaps ask if he'd mind keeping an eye out while you're gone then when you get back a box of chocs or a bottle of something should stand you in god stead for next time.
If its a shared access then you both need to cooperate with each other on matters such as this so just be friendly & pleasant. It would be neighbourly if you advised him beforehand as a matter of course whenever you want to get your caravan out or back in.
i would ask very politely saying to avoid any damage getting out the van to his car would he mind takinging it out for 10 minutes.no reasonable person will refuse.a bottle of wine as a sweetener for his trouble.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Politeness and plenty of warning are the order of the day. Our drive is our own and not big enough for the van (hence in storage) but if we want to wash or pack her she is parked across our drive and halfway across neighbours', blocking cars in. We always find that plenty of warning and being prepared to move if necessary (a push or pull so that they can get their car out) goes a long way. A bit different from your situation tho.
