Hi, ref Ultraflow water inlet

A problem regarding this new (well, new to me) water inlet. All fitted fine, changed the pump fitting and set up in my aquaroll. Hmm., little or no water pressure. The pistol bit from the ‘van exits out and down, necessitating an upward bend then a downward bend to get into the top of the aquaroll. This kinks the water inlet pipe and effectively shuts off the flow. I bought the longer inlet hose, but this too is so flexible that it too kinks. In tried a more rigid hose, but in cooler weather (i.e. most of the time!) the increased rigidity splits open the pistol attachment.

Is there another design or shape of the outlet pistol available? Or have I just wasted a lot of cash and time in order to avoid repeated cracking of the older crystal system.Or have I wasted time and money to avoid repeated cracking of the older crystal inlet?

Thanks.

Pull your caravan onto ramps as that way you will gain extra height thus avoiding any kinks in the water pump pipe. If your caravan is on unlevel ground whereby the water barrel is nearer to the inlet then this can sometimes happen so it's advisable to check on level ground as really there should be a problem.

Try with your aquaroll on its side and use the middle cap on the aquaroll

Good idea but I can't do that with mine anyway as I have the Pyramid Water porter which doesn't have the side acces cap for mains a water water supply but I suppose it is the perfect solution to the problem if you can do that.

I changed my Crystal to the Ultraflow and don't have any problems with it.

Just a thought, how about threading an opened out wire coat hanger through with the wires to the pump so that the hose can be bent on a shallow radius and the wire will hold it there?

If you want the pistol connector to point upwards, how about fitting the housing upside down?

I agree about the pistol grip. It is a nice looking thing but unfortunately badly designed. On our van, the water inlet socket is only a couple of inches above the top of our aquaroll so our pipe gets kinked. So much so that when my son changd from one aquaroll to the other recently, the hose came off the pistol and had to be repaired.
It would be much better for us if the hose came out horizontally rather than pointed downwards. I do sometimes leave the aquaroll on its side but it is no good when using the mains adapter.

Not a lot that can be done about it really so I am just careful to make sure the aquaroll is in just the right place to allow a smooth bend in the pipe.
Never had this problem on my old bailey ranger. Lol

Thanks to all! I have tried the sideways on remedy, OK., but doesn't empty the 'roll fully. Checked positioning, even considered ramps. However, I agree with Stephen that the design is pretty to look at, but not particularly user friendly. I wonder if the manufacturer ever reads this forum??

So, I wrote to Truma and asked about this problem. Their reply was:-
"There is no other design of the pistol grip pump assembly available. The Ultraflow pump assembly has a different hose to the one used on the older Carver system because we are limited to the type of food grade quality hose that we can now use."

So basically - tough!

It uses the same hose, you swap the trigger connector over to do the conversion.

Yup, DC., quite right, but the original point was the angulation of the outlet from the pistol! Herein lies the problem regardless of "new" vs "old" hose.

You could still sit your water barrel on its side and use the fill point just make sure its at the highest point you could also if you had a mind lift the front end up on a block "brick" so the last of the water runs to the far end where hopefully the pump is sitting.

Remove the pistol and thread the pipe through a spring to stop it linking. There are loads of possible solutions. What about cutting a hole in the bottom of the aqua roll and fitting the pump inside it?

How about fitting a longer hose so it can form a loop rather than kinking

I'm suprised you have a problem. Personally, my Ultraflow sits fairly low due to it's retro-fit replacement of the original Crystal inlet, but the inlet is slightly beneath the top of the Aquaroll. Careful positioning of the barrel slightly away from the van, provides a gently curve to the pipework, and as yet I've not issues with water flow.

I'd of thought though that either of the suggests from DaveCoaches or Andy (above) would be worthy of trying.
