Ended up with an unexpected half day, rung Venture and they said we can pick up the van a day early. Initially it wasn't ready but they've pulled out all the stops to get it sorted for us. Sporty is up on the ramps as we speak having her motor mover fitted. so excited!
shelleybobs....hows your new caravan???? Must of missed this thread somehow. which cutlery tray did you prefer out of the 3 you bought lol. Update wanted haahaa
Not managed to get on here since Friday to write the essay that is warranted with getting a new van
Handover was fantastic! We spoke to Dave and mentioned you, told him it was us you were measuring the drawers for! Really nice guys down there!
We towed her straight to a more local to us site which took just over 2 hours, got her set up and started to put things in their place. This is where it went wrong................ I suddenly regretted getting a new van especially one with cupboards like the wardrobe in the narnia stories. They are HUGE! Nothing seemed to quite "go". Went to ( a very firm) bed feeling quite miserable to be honest wondering if we had done the right thing.
After a fantastic nights sleep on very firm bed suddenly things looked very different! The sun was shining thought the windows, things seemed to slot in to place, possessions found a place in the van and all was well. I'm putting it down to having a long day, being tired and trying to get everything sorted at 9pm after a week of having a house full of kids with them being off school.
Had a lovely couple of days and even cooked Sunday dinner in the van complete with roast potatoes and quite frankly didn't want to come home for at least a week.
I was missing her so much yesterday, my friend and I went up to the storage yard, turned the gas on, ran the tv on 12v for our kids with a DVD and sat and had a cuppa.
Coming back to the storage in the van, there is just sooooo much of it, we are really going to have to watch our payload weights. The cupboards are huge, and there are so many of them! I am going to have to get a small folding step as they are so deep and I'm only a little un
Saturday was made even better with finding the most perfect collapsible washing basket that fits so very neatly next to the shoe basket in the bathroom, it's about 12inches square and 3ft tall with a zipped lid. I always struggled with where to put dirty laundry at the van, it used to end up in a tesco bag in the wardrobe.
We didn't put the awning up or anything so can't comment on how the van being taller changes things. The tesco cutlery insert fits nicely but inside the drawer, ours must be slightly wider than "Wizzo's" or they have changed the insert. I still put all my utensils underneath it though so still made use of the room, just meant lifting it out when I needed something from underneath, but you'd have to do that anyway so no real hardship. The asda one hasn't come yet but I'll try that one when it does and let you know.
All in all, I'm loving her to bits and can't wait till we get out with her again! Hopefully it'll be before the end of the month
What date is your pick up Appleby? Can't wait to hear how you get on
Hi shelleybobs *waves madly* So glad to hear all went well. I have been refreshing this page every 5 or so mins today since i added my post, waiting not so patiently for your wonderful update And a fab essay/update it is. I do love a good essay....am usually told that i have a big habbit of doing that myself often enough....even on a mobile mwaaaaahhhhhh.
Am glad to hear that the cupboards are overwhelming you lol, as i am also wondering about everything fitting. Yes weight we'll probably find as being a problem to....am just glad that we intend on sighting her on a seasonal pitch, although i have said to hubby it would be nice to take her off it and go somewhere else as well. Hubby has already been weighing stuff on our food scales Just took receipt of a fire blanket and a fire extinguisher and boy is the latter heavy!!! Argos has a good deal on at the moment, we thought, for the fixed beds.....Slumberdown 10.5 Tog Bed in a Bag single - we got 2 for less than £20. Only really after the duvet part of it so at just over £13 each, it was a good deal. I see that they have slighty gone up to £16.99 each, still discounted and still have the buy one and get the 2nd at half price. The sets come with duvet, pillows and protectors, although i'm not fussed on the protector side of it as am after better quality one's than these, but the duvet is lovely :D Got to get sheets/bedlinen now though....ugh lol!
We have just spoken to Dave and so pick-up of Sporty will be on the 26th June, so we still have a few weeks to go yet....grrrrrr..Patience was never a strong point of mine LOL...that date and day is primarily down to the fact that they don't usually do handovers on the weekend, although they would do a Saturday morning, but our son has things planned. Dave has Mondays and Tuesdays off, so had to go for the Weds as would prefer to keep things with Dave. He's just so nice. .
Am just so pleased for you, although you did have me cacking a bit when you said at top about regretting buying....I thought OMG....blood pressure has since dropped though heehee.....whew!!!
Your update has given me more ideas...so am off now to check out a few things Thanks so much for taking the time to update us, its very much appreciated
