As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Yes very important, before unhitching the van make sure van is level across the axel by using some wood or other to reverse the van wheel onto etc etc. You might have to go back and for a few times.
Then unhitch the van, level the van from front to back with jockey wheel, then Lower legs.
Then a cuppa while the mrs sorts the water out.

still better than pitching a tent!
how long does all of this usually take?
Â
Sure is lol Oh by the way dont forget to hook up your EHU :) Takes me about 40 mins to set up...but im not the qickest after towing :) Thats everything except an awning .. leave that for a bit later when refreshed :)
You may also want to apply security devices such as wheel or hitch locks. You will need to turn on your water heater when the water is filled up and also fill header tank on toilet.Depending on how much levelling there is to do, it usually takes about 30 mins to get to this stage. Then it is just a caravanse of reorganizing stuff in caravan like putting food in cupboards. Very quick indeed.
1, unhitch van.
2, in-gauge motor mover.
3, manoeuvre van into procession.
4, check level left-right (wheels)
5, if level OK, if not put block wedge under wheel.
6, level front to back with jockey wheel.
7, lower steady legs.
8, security devices on.
9, hitch and wheel covers on.
10, get step, water and waste containers out of van, and set up.
11, get water and connect, add chemicals to top and bottom loo tanks, then fill top tank with water.
12, connect electric cable, and turn.
13, turn on gas, run water through taps, and then turn on water heater.
14, empty all storage box's of contents, and put away in to cupboards, or in its place.
15, erect awning.
16, all contents from car, either into van or awning.
All takes approx 1.1/2 hrs.
sit down and have a drink, after that, re-check every thing.
then either relax for the rest of the day, or go for drive check out the area, and go food shopping.
This is how I do it:-
1, Remove hitch lock and unhitch van.
2, engage motor mover.
3, manoeuvre van into procession.
4, check level left-right (wheels)
5, if level OK, if not put block wedge under wheel.
6, level front to back with jockey wheel.
7, Handbrake on, mover disengaged and lower steady legs.
8, Re fit Hitch lock
9, Screw in dog tether and attach dogs
10, Erect awning and lay groundsheet
11, Connect EHU and turn on gas
12, Fill water container and conect pump
13, Connect waste water container
14, Erect folding cupboard, folding bin and dog cages in awning
15, Erect tv aerial and mast
16, Turn on switches in caravan, purge taps and turn on water heater (and room heater if required)
17, Put kettle on
18, Food, beer clothing etc from car to fridge, cupboards and wardrobe
19, Kettle is now boiled, make brew
All takes approx 45 to 60 min
Fill dogs water bowl, sit down with brew, after that, re-check every thing.
all the above except after putting up awning with the wife taking most of the blame for it not fitting correctly , both sit down for 3 or 4 hours and try to convince her not proceed with the divorce
Set up for us is the same as above, except I sometimes go for a walk when its time to put the awning up. We only have a porch awning now so OH can manage himself. I stay and help if its a bit windy.
------------- After living in my beloved van in Spain for a number of years, I
That might be your list but for your wife its
1 keep gob shut while hubby drives past pitch for the 5th time
2 get out and give directions for reversing which will be totally ignored
3 at this stage there's 2 options
A. Help hubby and have al suggestions ignored and take the blame for everything
B. get out camping chair and flask put MP3 player in ears and have a nice quite relaxing brew. Till hubby carms down and is ready to do as you say lol.
I do B Works every time for us and no arguments lol
------------- Dyslexic not stuped
It's nice to be important but its more important to be nice
My little caravan takes very little setting up.
From arriving on site to sitting down with a cool drink takes me about 15-20 minutes:
Arrive on site.
Reverse onto pitch (or failing that, unhitch and push van into position!)
Unhitch van and wind down the steadies.
Fill water container and connect it.
Connect waste pipe to container.
Connect the hook up lead.
Sit down with a cool drink!
After enjoying my drink, I like to put up my windbreak, fairy lights, flag pole and either my awning or canopy.
This takes about another 15-20 minutes.
