A dealer offered to fit me a second hand Carver motormover as part of a deal - I didn't know Carver made them and it struck me that I have no idea of the hierachy of motormovers I know Powrtouch make good ones, that they add about 30-40kg to the payload, and further than that I'm stumped! What do I need to know, please?
Very handy for tight spaces at storage yards or driveways, or if you are uncertain about reversing the van. Also very good for "fine tuning" your set up once unhitched from the car.
I'm considering one right now as well, from purple line. Purely because it would help my OH when were onsite as her directions are crap lol

You need to make sure your battery is in top condition, plus always carry spare batteries for the remote control as they are bound to run out at the most inappropriate time
We have an extremely narrow space to put our van at home and without a mover would be stuck, it goes exactly where you want it. We would not be without one, best investment ever
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
We got a powrtouch one with our new caravan and love it! Makes it so much easier putting our van away in storage as we have a very end plot, also means I can hitch up easier by myself if OH is at work. It was a choice between a free motor mover and a free full awning. As we already had a decent size porch awning. Thought we would go with the mover. So very glad we did
Sorry cant shed more light on which ones are decent etc...
Can't do without it, blooming pain in the bottom when it's having a wobbly and decides not to work properly, but when it is working it is brilliant, we couldn't get our van on and off the drive without it

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
We have a powertouch - it takes a lot of the stress out of pitching up as neither of us is fantastic at reversing the 'van.
If you have the opportunity I would go for it!

Hi wouldn't be without a motor mover best investment l've made since upgrading to a twin-axial some years ago. l have a purpleline enduro mover fitted to my new van, my last mover was a power touch out of the two l found the purple line better. On the carver mover l cannot comment on, here is a link to a demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMGAEpK-JTM hope this helps.

Carver were acquired by Truma in 1999, so a Carver mover will be quite old.
The (excellent) secluded pitch we were given on our last trip would have been impossible to get into with our 8 Metre Twin Axle 'van if we hadn't got a mover. We can barely move our 'van by hand and the mover saves a lot of wear and tear on the car's clutch.
Movers come in 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive flavours for Twin Axle 'vans. The 4 wheel drive versions make the 'van a lot more manoeuvrable than the 2 W.D. versions.
Never had one before, but wouldn't be able to move the van without it. 1800kg.
It is for single axle van.
Good piece of kit.
You do need a bigger battery.
We've got a Reich which was what the dealer sold at that time.
It's a bit low slung ,a nd the casing is very prone to catching on speed bumps and breaknig . We now remedy this with gaffer tape rather than paying £25 a pop for replacement..( I notice the new model is made of something different. )
Both of us tow and can reverse but we store it on az very tight plot on a farm. and if we bring it back home , our road is incredibly narrow and would be very hard to park without .
It allows me to hitch up easily on my own as well.
Also we are a couple of decrepit old gits and wouldn't be up be pushing the van .
It makes leveling the van very easy as well.
We were in 3 ft snow drifts a few years back and it even coped with that .
As already said , make sure your nbattery's fully charged . We manged not to swicth over from car to van on the distributor recenlt and had a few problems getting hitched up!.
If its part of the deal and gratis and it does the job then you've got nothing to worry about. If you were buying one I would recommend the Powertouch all day long, a superb mover for the price
I like many others have quite a narrow access to pull into and therefore takes all the stress out of getting the van in & out again. I can reverse reasonably well now after going on a CC course but it would take ages and I wouldn't like to try it. After the van itself its the best thing I have ever bought, it makes leveling on-site a dawdle too. Go for one with a cross actuator if like mine one side is tight against a wall.
We are also a couple of decrepit old gits with health problems and couldn't pull our van off the drive. We can now put the van in nose first making it more secure. Also we can bring the van to the hitch without falling out before the journey
