Hi i am soon to be getting my first ever touring caravan. I have looked on the internet to see if there are any laws regarding where you can pull in overnight.
Please could someone tell me where i can find out things like this??

You would be well advised to find caravan sites rather than try to pull up on the roadside or indeed anywhere that isn't a recognized site.
You will moved on by the police if you try to park in a lay-by not withstanding the obvious danger.
The only laws relating to staying overnight in caravans 'offsite' ie wild camping are local byelaws, ie council car parks may ban overnight parking etc, otherwise its what you can get away with. You will see laybys full of trucks with drivers sleeping in their cabs overnight & all long distance truck drivers know of places around the country where they can park overnight without problems.
So you do what truck drivers do, just use your sense, if it looks ok, it probably is.

Thats an odd one, an 'enviromental campaigner' got the signs removed. This will again allow the laybys to be used for overnight parking by trucks etc & as usual laybys will become polluted with rubbish & p*** bottles.
He sounds a bit of a tw*t, I doubt it even occurred to him that many layby campers will leave rather more than just their tyre tracks.

Better to find a cheap site for an overnight stop or if you join either of the two clubs you can use a
C/L or C/S which are small 5 van sites .
Do you really want to park overnight in urine smelling laybys where HGVs overnight just to save a few quid
As long as you're on about stopping overnight on the way to your site I see no reason why you can't do the same as everyone else we see in the laybys when we're heading down to Cornwall. I've never seen the police move anyone on yet nor have I heard of any of our friends being moved on.
We'd stop in a layby if we were going up to Scotland but our journey down to Cornwall is only 170 miles so we do that n one hit with a toilet stop at Collumpton McDonalds. I wouldn't bother with booking an overnight site to stop on because I'd then be committed to where we had to stop and I prefer to stop when I feel the need but that's down to the individual.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
