We came dowm to cornwall last wednesday, as with our fab weather it is now very different and having had the clouds so low that what we thought was mist was clouds, now they have moved the wind has gained strength. We have not yet purchased a tie dowm kit and in true hubby style didn't really look at it till late today. Whilst there is a place not to far that sells them at 5pm they were just closing.

So we have used rope from the car, our big peg brought for the cats leads and one of our metal hard surface pegs we have made our owm. Just hope it works as we only got the awning last dec.

If you have the rope thrown over the top of the awning make sure you have something padded between the awning and rope to stop the wind rubbing the rope on your awning .

Which site are you on? If have clips on your awning to take the clip on type of strap you shouldn't have trouble getting a kit. We left ours behind one year & the site shop stocked them.

We've always been told that I go over the top tieing our awnings down but we've never had one blow over yet and we've been through some serious gales on site there many times. .

Try a couple of those corkscrews used for tying the dog to, put them on the inside of your awning and place the strap over the inner frame that way you do not damage the awning fabric, it works for me cheers.

We did look in the site shop but they didn't have anything. It is definatly on our list to buy before we go away next time.

We bought tie downs from Halfords which we use over the end poles. Works a treat!

That's what we've used for years Royh well worth having aren't they. We put three of them across the front of the awning on the outside at the base of the awning frame legs. I then pass a length of webbing under the canopy but ove the frame of the awning where the three short frame extentions come out through the awning canopy & tie the webbing down to the two dog tethers. I then put a length of nylon string around the inside of the frame, passit out through the hole along side the frame and tie these tight but not overtight down to all three dog tethers. Add these to the clip on awning storm straps which hold the awning canopy down and the whole thing simply can't go anywhere.

My OH and the kids used to spend three weeks of the summer holidays away in the van with me back here at work so I had to know everything was secure. It stood some serious gales right off the sea and stayed put.
